Dear visitors of Kyrgyzstan,
I am glad to inform you that our project is available on the new website of the Department of Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic www.tourism.gov.kg (direct link is http://map.tourism.gov.kg/).
We are all excited to go travel in 2021 again so I highly recommend you to visit Kyrgyzstan. The spectacular views of nature will make your heart beat faster.
As you all know, we had not many opportunities to travel in the past year but I and my team decided not to give up and do something useful for our country's tourism industry. This project is a great tool for you to decide where to go when you visit Kyrgyzstan in the future. It will be also a useful tool for tourism providers as a great tool to create new itineraries for incoming guests.
The map is divided by regions of the country so it will be easier to navigate. The tool has two menus to choose places of interest, one in the bottom left corner and one in the bottom center menu (the icon with four squares). There is also a short description in three languages English, Russian, and Kyrgyz. Some of these panoramas have been also uploaded to Google Maps/Street View and in the past month, we have reached almost 500K views and hoping to reach 1 million views soon.
You can enjoy this virtual tour of Kyrgyzstan on your laptop or PC, mobile, and VR goggles. Of course, VR goggles provide the most immersive experience!
This project was made possible with the support of the Department of Tourism of Kyrgyz Republic and sponsored by JICA, GIZ and Maks Tour.
The team consists of four people:
- Maksat Konushaliev - author of the idea and team leader
- Viktor Rehemae - photographer and editor
- Andrey Kislitsin - guide driver
- Eldiyar Niyazov - assistant
The total time of this project from idea to final upload took us almost 10 months. The filming process and the various expeditions took us 40+ days in total.
Some interesting figures:
- We drove 8700 km,
- we hiked 120+ km in the mountains,
- our drone flew 260 km,
- we filmed more than 100 locations,
- we captured more than 200 panoramas by capturing many places both from the ground and by drone,
- we edited more than 8000 photos.
