Abish runs a small tour company based in Aktau, on the Mangystau peninsula in western Kazakhstan. He and his team focus entirely on this one region, taking travelers out to its desert canyons, salt flats and rock formations.
Trips range from single-day outings to three-day expeditions, covering landmark sites such as Bozzhyra, Tuzbair, Kyzylkup, Sherkala Mountain and the Valley of Castles, as well as an underground mosque and the Ustyurt Plateau's Mars-like cliffs. Multi-day tours include overnight stays in camping tents, with an option to stay in an ethno-village instead.
Travelers are driven in 4x4 vehicles such as the Toyota Prado, 4Runner or Land Cruiser, in small groups of one to four people. Meals, camping gear and insurance are included, and the team can put together different route options depending on how many days a traveler wants to spend in the desert.
Abish and his team communicate directly with travelers to plan the route and logistics before departure.
