Alex is a freelance guide and driver based in Murmansk, on the Russian Arctic coast. He has been showing travelers around the region since 2020, guiding and driving personally, and also works with other local guides and drivers when needed.

His trips focus on the classic Murmansk region experiences: day trips to Teriberka on the Barents Sea coast, aurora borealis hunting after dark, and visits to Sami villages for reindeer sledding, husky dog sledding and snowmobile rides. He also puts together longer custom routes that link Murmansk with Teriberka, Karelia, St Petersburg and Moscow.

For aurora tours, Alex checks the weather late in the afternoon and messages travelers with the pickup time and meeting point for that evening, usually between 8 and 10:30pm. Day trips run by car or minivan with him as driver and guide, and he is able to arrange multi-day itineraries with trains and stops along the way for groups who want to see more of northwest Russia.
