We had an unforgettable 15-day expedition through Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan thanks to Eldar and his Land Cruiser! We were a group of 6 people, and Eldar went above and beyond by installing an extra rear seat so all of us could travel comfortably. On our request, he also arranged to deliver and pick up the vehicle directly in Almaty, which saved us so much time and made the entire logistics completely seamless. On top of that, he handled all the necessary border cross-permit paperwork for us, allowing us to cross between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan without a single issue. Because space was tight inside with six passengers, we carried our extra luggage on the roof rack using heavy-duty transport straps and waterproof duffel bags—the setup worked flawlessly across thousands of kilometers. The vehicle itself is an older model, but it is an absolute beast when it comes to capability. It took us everywhere we wanted to go without hesitation: we tackled deep mud, crossed river streams, and completed an incredible loop through the remote Sary-Jaz Valley. Even when we got stuck in the mud, the truck had the grunt to get us right back out. It was a trip full of epic adventures, rugged mountain passes, and amazing memories. Big thanks to Eldar for his fantastic support, flexibility, and for providing us with a reliable machine that made this dream journey possible. We rented a car from Eldar for 8 days in August 2026 to drive the Pamir Highway. The communication and paperwork before the trip were handled correctly. Two days before we were due to pick up the car in Dushanbe, he asked us if we would mind taking a “co-driver” with us, supposedly in case anything happened to the car. We told him no, as we had rented a car and wanted to travel independently. The following day, we were supposed to pick up the car, he still hadn’t arrived. At 10 a.m., he messaged us saying that either we accepted having someone come with us or he would cancel the rental. At that point, we had no choice but to accept, although this is definitely not the way things should be handled. The car arrived the following day, one day late, together with the “co-driver”. He only spoke Russian, but he was friendly and pleasant throughout the trip. As for the car, the air conditioning didn’t work and there were several warning lights on the dashboard. However, we had no mechanical problems during the 7 days we drove. Overall, the experience ended up being OK, but make absolutely sure that you are actually going to get a car to drive on your own if that is what you are booking. If you rent a car from Eldar, be prepared for the possibility that you may have to take someone along with you.
Car was great and comfortable and driver had an excellent driving skills, we felt safe all the time. On the downside, he barely spoke English but we somehow managed with translate app. In general we think that Kyrgystan is overpriced for what you get (everybody is just milking tourists) so we are not satisfied with value for money and general attitude towards guests, especially when comparing our similar tours in Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
