Mairash is a certified guide based in Bayan-Ölgii, in far western Mongolia. She studied international relations and has worked for years as both a translator and a guide, and she speaks Kazakh, Mongolian, Russian and English with travelers.
Her main area is the Altai region around Ölgii: the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, Khoton and Khurgan lakes, and the mountain and steppe landscapes of the far west. She specialises in introducing travelers to Kazakh herder traditions, including visits to eagle hunters, alongside hiking and horse riding in the highlands. She also puts together longer trips that take in other highlights of Mongolia, such as the Gobi desert, the Flaming Cliffs and the Orkhon Valley.
Mairash guides personally rather than through a team, and since she does not drive herself she arranges a vehicle and driver as part of the trip. She works from a traveler's dates and interests to build a full itinerary, including transport and accommodation, and adjusts routes when distances or road conditions in western Mongolia call for it. She describes herself as dedicated to making each trip authentic and comfortable, with a strong focus on sharing Kazakh culture with visitors.
