Tamar is a freelancer based in Tbilisi who puts together driver-guided trips around Georgia. She does not drive herself; instead she works with local drivers and their cars, usually a Hyundai Elantra, to take travelers on day trips and multi-day routes.
Her routes cover the classic circuit out of Tbilisi: Jvari Monastery, Ananuri, Gudauri and Kazbegi with Gergeti church, as well as the Gveleti waterfall and the Zhinvali reservoir along the way. She also arranges hiking trips into Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, with practical advice on timing, weather and gear, and can set up photography outings, including late evening and after-midnight sessions.
She works out the plan with each traveler first, asking about the kind of trip they want, whether they prefer hotels or camping, and how many days they need, then proposes a route and a driver to match. Car seats for children can be arranged on request.
Our driver was a 22 yr old young man. At first we thought he was flaky as he kept us waiting for more than 2 hrs on out first trip but who could blame him! He had just picked us up at the airport early morning on that very day. He turned out to be a gem of a boy and a perfect host and guide throughout our journey. Thanks again Tamara for providing us with such a great guide.
