Yerbolat runs a small jeep tour company based in Aktau, on Kazakhstan's Caspian coast. He does not guide or drive the tours himself, but works with a team of drivers and English-speaking guides who take travelers out into the Mangystau desert.
The focus is private 4x4 jeep expeditions through the region's best-known landscapes: Bozzhyra canyon and its "Mars" and "Ship" rock formations, Bokty Mountain, the Kyzylkup ("Tiramisu") hills, Sherkala Mountain, Torysh Valley of Balls, Airakty Valley of Castles and the Tuzbair salt flats. Tours range from one-day trips out of Aktau to multi-day expeditions of up to six days, with camping or yurt stays along the way.
Trips run in a comfortable 4x4, usually a Toyota Land Cruiser 200, with camping equipment, meals cooked on site and airport pick-up included. Yerbolat and his team build custom itineraries around what a traveler wants to see and how many days they have, and can arrange drone filming, vegetarian or vegan meals and photography-focused stops. All tours are private, for the travelers' own group only, and communication is in English or through a translator where needed.
