About this tour
Tour around the wonderful island within 8 days and witness the nature, culture, and heritage of Sri Lanka. Starting from the Capital of the country, proceed to the ancient royal cities with immense religious and historical value and move to the central hills for breathtaking and relaxing views. Explore the wildlife of Sri Lanka and finally visit the Galle fort as a wonderful historical jewel revealing the influence of Portuguese and Dutch during the 17th century in Sri Lanka.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Bandaranaike International Airport, කටුනායක, Sri Lanka to Colombo, Sri Lanka
A representative will meet and greet you upon your arrival at the airport and will take you to Colombo for check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, you will go on a city tour of Colombo, returning to the hotel afterward for Dinner and overnight stay at Colombo or Negambo
Day 2: Colombo, Sri Lanka to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka
After breakfast proceeds to Polonnaruwa. Commence a sightseeing tour of Polonnaruwa visit the ruins of the audience hall, council chamber, the royal citadel, the Kumara Pokuna (pond) Royal Pavilion, Siva Dewale, the Vatadage relic house, Kiriwehera, Gal Vihare with some of the most impressive sculptures, the reservoirs, etc. and return to Giritale. Dinner and overnight stay hotel in Giritale or Sigiriya
Day 3: Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka to Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka
After breakfast, you will leave for Anuradhapura, the first capital of Sri Lanka. Here you will see the remains of the Brazen Palace (which was once nine stories high) and the Sri Maha Bodhi - a Bo Tree over 2,000 years old, grown from the branch of the very tree beneath which the Buddha attained enlightenment. You will also visit the ruins of the Ruwanweliseya Dagaba, see the 2nd Century BC shrine containing the Buddha’s collarbone relic, the Abhayagiriya Temple, and the Jetawanaramaya Dagobas. Afterward, you will view the Kuttam Pokuna or twin ponds and the Samadhi Buddha - the statue of the Buddha in a meditative pose, which is being acknowledged worldwide as a masterpiece. Dinner and overnight stat in Anuradapura or Sigiriya
Day 4: Sigiriya, Sri Lanka to Kandy, Sri Lanka
Leave the hotel early morning to visit Horton Plains in the hills. Trek to the beautiful Bakers’ Fall and the proverbial ‘World’s End’ offering the best panoramic views on the island. Dinner and Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 5: Kandy, Sri Lanka
You will go on a sightseeing tour after breakfast to explore Kandy and the Upper Lake Drive. You will visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala and the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. At the end of the day, you will return to the hotel for Dinner and an overnight stay in Kandy
Day 6: Kandy, Sri Lanka to Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka
Enjoy breakfast before leaving for Nuwara Eliya. En route, you will visit a tea factory and tea plantation where you can catch a glimpse of women plucking the tea leaves or ‘Green Gold’. Upon arrival at Nuwara Eliya, also known as ‘Little England’, you will go on a late afternoon tour. Dinner overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya
Day 7: Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka to Yala National Park Safari, Yala, Sri Lanka
This morning, you will depart for Yala after breakfast. In the afternoon, you will go on a trip to the Yala National Park or Bundala Wildlife Park and see a vast array of animals including deer, peacock, elephant, and wild buffalo and catch sight of a leopard or bear if you are lucky enough. At the end of the day, you will check-in at the hotel for Dinner and an overnight stay in Yala
Day 8: Galle, Sri Lanka to Bandaranaike International Airport, කටුනායක, Sri Lanka
After Breakfast, you will be driven back to Colombo airport for your onward flight with happy Sri Lankan memories. End of Tour
