Embark on a 3-day horse trekking adventure in Terelj National Park. Visit Turtle Rock, meet a nomadic family, and enjoy a picnic by the Tuul River.
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Drive to Terelj National Park and arrive at a ger camp. Meet your local horse guide, receive a short riding briefing, and get fitted with gear. Start your horse trek to Turtle Rock, an iconic natural rock shaped like a turtle. Ride uphill and hike to the Ariyabal Meditation Temple for panoramic views. Enjoy a picnic or a nomadic-style meal with local herders. Continue gentle trekking through scenic valleys and forest areas before returning to the ger camp by late afternoon. Spend the night in a ger, with optional activities like a bonfire, stargazing, or traditional games.
On the second day, have breakfast at the camp before mounting your horse for a longer trek into the valleys and along the Tuul River. Stop by a nomadic family to learn about the herder lifestyle and try traditional foods like airag and cheese. Have a picnic lunch by the river or in the open steppe. Continue riding through forested hills and grasslands, passing herds of horses and yaks. Return to the camp in the afternoon for dinner and rest. Try archery or wear traditional Mongolian costumes for photos.
On the final day, have breakfast at the camp. Enjoy an optional short hike or relax around the camp before departing to Ulaanbaatar. Stop at the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex (optional) and a souvenir shop or local lunch spot. Arrive back in Ulaanbaatar around 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM.
