Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda

Day 1: Fly from Maasai Mara to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Entebbe Your journey begins with a scenic flight from Maasai Mara, departing from one of Aerolink Uganda’s airstrips (such as Serena, Olkiombo, Keekorok, or Angama) at 8:45 AM. You will arrive in Entebbe at 11:30 AM and proceed with check-in for your connecting flight to either Kihihi or Kisoro—whichever is closer to the location of your secured gorilla tracking permit. Upon arrival, a Nandi Adventures guide will meet you for a transfer to your lodge near Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. After checking in, enjoy a late lunch and spend the afternoon unwinding in preparation for tomorrow’s exhilarating gorilla trekking experience. Optional Afternoon Activity: For an immersive cultural experience, take a guided community walk to meet local Ugandan communities. Depending on your route, you may visit a traditional healer to learn about the medicinal uses of Bwindi’s rich biodiversity or visit a local school if classes are in session.

Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Return to Lodge After an early breakfast, you will pack your essentials, including a packed lunch and water, and head to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters by 8:00 AM. Here, rangers will brief you on trekking guidelines before you embark on your adventure. Your trek through the dense rainforest can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. A reasonable level of fitness and sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Once you locate the gorilla family, you will have one magical hour to observe and photograph them as they feed, play, and interact. Watching juvenile gorillas tumble around is especially heartwarming! After your time with the gorillas, rangers will lead you back to the starting point, where your guide will be waiting to take you to the park headquarters for your gorilla tracking certificate—a token of your contribution to conservation. You will then return to your lodge for a well-earned lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda to Entebbe International Airport, Entebbe, Uganda

Flight to Entebbe & Departure After breakfast, you will transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your return flight to Entebbe, departing at 8:25 AM. If you prefer a later flight, alternative options can be arranged. Upon arrival in Entebbe around 11:25 AM, you will connect to your international flight. If your departure is scheduled for later in the day, we can arrange a day room at one of our partner guest houses in Entebbe, allowing you to relax or explore before your onward journey. This marks the end of your unforgettable Uganda gorilla safari—an experience that will stay with you forever.
