Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, Zanzibar, Tanzania to Nyerere National Park, Tanzania
Early morning transfer from your hotel in Zanzibar to the airport. Fly from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park. The flight duration is approximately 1-2 hours, depending on the specific flight schedule. Upon arrival at Nyerere National Park's airstrip, meet your safari guide and begin your exploration of the park. Enjoy a game drive en route to your safari lodge or camp. Check-in and have lunch at the lodge or camp. Afternoon game drive in Nyerere National Park, searching for wildlife such as elephants, lions, hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species. Return to the lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay. Boat safaris are also the best excursions for bird enthusiasts. The park has over 350 bird species, and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment.
Day 2: Nyerere National Park, Tanzania
Early morning wake-up call for a sunrise game drive, offering excellent opportunities to spot predators in action and witness the park's wildlife at its most active. Return to the lodge or camp for breakfast. Mid-morning to afternoon game drive, exploring different areas of Nyerere National Park and observing its diverse ecosystems, including grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands. Picnic lunch in a scenic spot within the park. Continue the game drive, focusing on specific wildlife sightings or landscapes of interest. Return to the lodge or camp in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Nyerere National Park, Tanzania to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, Zanzibar, Tanzania
Early morning game drive or optional bush walk for a final chance to spot wildlife in Nyerere National Park. Return to the lodge or camp for breakfast and check-out. Transfer to the park's airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar. Fly from Nyerere National Park to Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, transfer to your hotel or the airport for your onward journey.
