Total route: 1043 km through Kyrgyzstan’s most beautiful landscapes
This 3-day journey takes you through some of Kyrgyzstan’s most iconic landscapes and cultural experiences. Begin with a scenic hike in Kok-Moinok Canyon, followed by a stop in Kochkor to enjoy a felt-making show led by local craftswomen. At the high-altitude Son-Kul Lake, spend the night in a traditional yurt and experience nomadic hospitality, with the option to ride horses across vast mountain pastures. On the second day, travel to the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, stopping in Kyzyl-Tuu village to visit a yurt master and learn how yurts are built from scratch. Your final day includes hikes to the stunning Barskoon waterfalls, the colorful Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon, and the dramatic beige-rock landscapes of the Ak-Sai Canyons, offering a final taste of Kyrgyzstan’s wild natural beauty before heading back. This tour offers a rich blend of nature, culture, and authentic Kyrgyz experiences.
Bishkek – Kok-Moinok – Son-Kul Your adventure begins with a drive from Bishkek to the majestic Son-Kul Lake, stopping for a scenic hike in Kok-Moinok Canyon, known for its red rock formations. Enjoy a traditional lunch in Kochkor, followed by a Felt Show at Altyn-Kol Cooperative, where local women demonstrate how Kyrgyz carpets are made from scratch. In the evening, arrive at Son-Kul and settle into a cozy yurt camp, with a warm dinner included.
Son-Kul – Kyzyl-Tuu – Tosor (Southern Issyk-Kul) Start your morning with optional horse riding across Son-Kul’s wide alpine meadows, then descend toward Issyk-Kul Lake. Stop in Kyzyl-Tuu village to visit a yurt master, where you’ll see how yurts are traditionally crafted. By evening, arrive at another yurt camp on Issyk-Kul’s southern shore. Relax with dinner and spend the night in a lakeside yurt.
Tosor – Barskoon – Skazka – Ak-Sai Canyons – Bishkek Your final day begins with a morning hike in Barskoon Gorge, where you’ll visit two beautiful waterfalls nestled in the forested mountains. After that, continue your journey along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul and stop at the surreal Skazka Canyon-also known as Fairy Tale Canyon-famous for its colorful, wind-carved rock formations resembling animals and castles. After lunch on the way, head toward the Ak-Sai Canyons, a lesser-known but dramatic beige and white sandstone landscape near the western edge of Issyk-Kul, offering striking views and peaceful trails. It’s a perfect place for a final short hike or photo stop before the scenic drive back to Bishkek, completing your adventure through Kyrgyzstan’s diverse natural beauty.
