Salt Range area is 175Km long and 80Km wide, between river Jehlum, Soan and Indus. Because of its beautiful

landscapes the area is well visited by tourists. The Salt Range area is an of shoot of the great Himalayan range and 63000 yours ago this all area was under the sea and due to the movement of continental plates this area raised and developed into this present shape. We find worlds largest and oldest Salt Mines in this area. This area is also famous for its lakes and gardens and in winters lakes are ideal for bird watching. The highest point in Salt Range is Sakeaser which is 5000ft high form sea level. There are four big lakes in Salt Range Jhalar, Uchali, Khabeki and Kallar Kahar. We will visit all these lakes during this trip, and other highlights of the trips are rock climbing, visit of Salt Mines and short trekking.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Lahore, Pakistan to Kallar Kahar, Pakistan

Lahore – Kallar Kahar Morning drive from school to Salt Range on motorway. After 4 hours drive we will turn left from Lila and drive to Salt Mines, area wise these are the biggest mines in the world. There are 17 stories of the mine and its better to take torches along. The visit will take about 90 minutes. Lunch at the mines. After the mines we will drive to Ketas, an important Hindu pilgrim center before the partition with many shrines and temples form eight to tenth century. Then drive to Kallar Kahar Lake, the most popular lake of salt range area among the tourists. First Mughal emperor Zaheer – u – Din Babar stayed here in 1519 during his run to conquer Bhaira. He cultivated some fruit gardens and made a historic throne for him self. Later hike up the nearby hill to visit a historic shrine of a Muslim Sufi saint and also for the beautiful views of the area, valleys on both sides of the shrine is known as the Peacock valley and in the evening we can see the wild Peacocks in the surroundings of the shrine. Overnight camping near Kallar Kahar Lake. Day 2: KALLAR KAHAR LAKE, Kallar Kahar, Pakistan to Uchhali Lake, Pakistan

Kallar Kahar – Uchali Lake Today we will take early start because the day is full of different activities: like trekking, rock climbing and bird watching. First we will drive to Khabeki lake for bird watching from Khabeki drive to Sodi for rock climbing and before rock climbing we will do a short trek of one hour to reach the rocks. Lunch at rocks and after lunch drive to Uchali Lake, the biggest lake in Salt Range, every year thousands of birds migrate here from Siberia, so do not forget to bring a good binocular. Overnight camp at Uchali Lake under the Sakeaser top. Day – 02 Kallar Kahar – Uchali Time Activity 530 Wake up call Morning jog! Warm up 600 Break fast at camp 700 Depart for Khabeki lake Bird watching 830 Drive to Sodi Rock Climbing repelling 1230 Lunch at Sodi rocks 1330 Drive to Uchali Lake 1400 Establishment of camping site 1500 Camp activities 1600 Bird watching 1800 Dinner 1900 Camp fire 2000 Time to sleep

Day 3: Uchhali Lake, Pakistan to Lahore, Pakistan

Uchali – Lahore Morning drive to the most beautiful lake of the area, Jhalar Lake. We will take a short trek to reach the lake and after lunch at the lake we will drive back to motorway and then to Lahore. If time permits then from Kallar Kahar we will drive to Malot temple. Malot is a historic place as in 16th century Al – Barooni, famous Muslim scientist calculated the circumference of the earth from here and his calculations were almost same which scientists calculated later with modern scientific equipment. We will reach back at school by 2030 hours. Uchali – Lahore Time Activity 600 Wake up call 630 Breakfast at camp 730 Depart camp 900 Start trek towards Jhalar Lake 1100 Arrive at Jhalar Lake 1130 Lunch at Jhalar Lake 1330 Drive to Malot temple 1600 Arrive Malot 1630 Drive to Lahore 2030 Arrive Lahore
