1st Day. Our adventure begins with an early departure from Tashkent, heading toward the picturesque Aksakata valley and the starting village of Gidjal (L=70 km; T=1 hr 30 mins), the initial point of our mountain trek. We ascend along the slopes of the ridge, making our way into the upper reaches near Syurenata Peak (2045 m). At the start, we will encounter the fascinating Marble Belt, featuring ancient rocks that may hold visible signs of seashell fossils. After reaching the old Soviet-era road, we begin our descent toward the Aksakata River from the opposite side of the mountain, arriving at the confluence of the Aksakata and Kumbel rivers. We then continue our hiking journey through the beautiful Nurekata valley. Here, we will enjoy the scenic, captivating views of the valley and the surrounding landscape. Around 1:00 PM, we will break for lunch. Our day's hike concludes nearby a bridge, where we will set up our tents and prepare a well-earned dinner. We will spend the night nestled peacefully in the valley.
2nd Day. The Kumbel Ridge and Valley Traverse. Today, we embark on a somewhat extended ascent, following a well-defined path along the scenic Kumbel ridge. Our traverse continues along this ridge, leading us to the summit of Kumbel (H=2250m), where a magnificent panorama of the Greater Chimgan peaks unfolds before us. We will pause for lunch at the shelter located near the hydrometeorological station. The second part of the day involves walking down into the tranquil valley of the Beldersay River. Here, you can immerse yourself and truly enjoy the unique and untamed beauty of nature. Our second night of camping will be spent on a picturesque, serene glade nestled close to the river (H=1700m).
3rd Day. Early in the morning we start ascent to Big Chimgan (H=3309m) which takes 5 hours from the northern slopes of Chimgan. When we reach to the peak you are enjoyed by majestic panorama of surrounded valleys and mountains. After lunch and rest we go down towards Chimgan village and stay in a guesthouse. Overnight.
4 Day. After breakfast, we continue toward the Kyzyl-Jar cliffs, reaching a panoramic crest at 1,810m that offers view of the Greater Chimgan peak (3,309m), Charvak Lake, and local mountain villages. From these heights, we begin a gradual descent toward the Charvak Reservoir, passing through the rural landscapes of lower Yubileyniy. This 14 km linear trek provides opportunities to spot predatory birds, grazing sheep, and semi-wild horses before we conclude with our return to Tashkent (L=94 km, T=1.5 hr).
