Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Your journey starts with a morning flight from Maasai Mara to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with a layover at Entebbe International Airport. You will be transferred to an Aerolink Uganda departure point for your 08:45 AM flight. Upon arrival in Entebbe at 11:30 AM, you will check in for your onward flight to Kihihi or Kisoro, depending on your gorilla tracking permit location. A Nandi Adventures driver/guide will meet you and transfer you to your lodge near Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Following check-in, you can enjoy a late lunch and relax. In the evening, your guide will provide a briefing for the next day's gorilla trekking activity. An optional guided community walk is available for those interested in learning about local Ugandan communities.
Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park After an early breakfast, you will pack your essentials, including a packed lunch and water, and head to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters by 8:00 AM. Here, rangers will brief you on trekking guidelines before you embark on your adventure. Your trek through the dense rainforest can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. A reasonable level of fitness and sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Once you locate the gorilla family, you will have one magical hour to observe and photograph them as they feed, play, and interact. Watching juvenile gorillas tumble around is especially heartwarming! After your time with the gorillas, rangers will lead you back to the starting point, where your guide will be waiting to take you to the park headquarters for your gorilla tracking certificate—a token of your contribution to conservation. You will then return to your lodge for a well-earned lunch and a relaxing afternoon.
Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek & Return to Lodge Today, you will experience another unforgettable gorilla trek in a different sector of Bwindi. You will depart at 6:00 AM for the Ruhija sector, crossing the misty gorilla highlands with scenic views along the way. Upon arrival at the headquarters, UWA rangers will conduct a briefing before you begin your trek. Just like yesterday, you will hike through the dense forest in search of your assigned gorilla family. Once found, you will spend an hour observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, a truly breathtaking experience. After your trek, you will return to the starting point, where your driver/guide will be waiting to take you back to the park headquarters for your tracking certificate. You will then head back to the lodge for lunch and a well-deserved afternoon of relaxation. Later, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda to Entebbe International Airport, Entebbe, Uganda
Flight to Entebbe & Departure After breakfast, you will transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your morning flight to Entebbe, departing at 8:25 AM. If you prefer a later flight, we can arrange an alternative departure time. Upon arrival in Entebbe at around 11:25 AM, you will connect to your onward international flight. If your flight is scheduled for later in the evening, we can arrange a day room at one of our partner guest houses in Entebbe, allowing you to relax and explore the town before your departure. This marks the end of your incredible Uganda gorilla safari—an experience filled with unforgettable encounters and lasting memories.
