Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Jarteppa, Tajikistan to Seven Lakes, Tajikistan
Departure from Samarkand toward the Panjakent border, where your unforgettable journey through Tajikistan begins. After completing border formalities, continue to the ancient city of Panjakent — one of Central Asia’s oldest cultural centers, rich with history, local life, and mountain atmosphere. Enjoy a guided city tour to UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE SARAZM owning 5500 years old, Ancient city of Sogdians, Historical museum named after Rudaki, colorful bazaars, and views of the surrounding Zerafshan Valley. After the city tour, enjoy a traditional Tajik lunch in Panjakent before continuing deep into the breathtaking Fann Mountains to explore the famous Seven Lakes. This stunning chain of turquoise and emerald lakes stretches through peaceful mountain villages surrounded by dramatic peaks and rivers. Along the way, enjoy beautiful scenery, photo stops, and authentic village life. In the evening, arrive at the 4th Lake, where you will stay overnight at a cozy local guesthouse surrounded by spectacular mountain landscapes and peaceful nature. Duration 4 - 6 hours Visit 4 lakes
Day 2: Seven Lakes, Tajikistan to Iskanderkul, Tajikistan
After breakfast, continue the journey deeper into the breathtaking Seven Lakes valley, visiting three more of the stunning alpine lakes. Each lake offers a unique color and atmosphere, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and traditional villages along the way. Later, drive back towards the main highway heading in the direction of Iskandarkul Lake. Enjoy lunch en route at a local spot, surrounded by mountain views. In the afternoon, arrive at the famous Iskandarkul Lake, one of Tajikistan’s most iconic natural attractions. Explore the area, enjoy the fresh alpine air, and visit nearby highlights including Snake Lake and the impressive “Niagara” Waterfall. By evening, transfer to the peaceful village of Saratog, located about 5 km from Iskandarkul. Overnight stay in a comfortable guesthouse, surrounded by mountains and a quiet rural atmosphere. Day 3: Iskanderkul, Tajikistan to Khujand, Tajikistan
After breakfast, depart from the Saratog area and begin the scenic drive toward Khujand. On the way, stop in Istaravshan, one of the oldest cities in Tajikistan, often called an “open-air museum” for its rich history and well-preserved architecture. Explore the old town, traditional craft workshops, and historical sites Kuk Gumbaz ( Blue dome 16 century) that reflect centuries of Silk Road heritage. Lunch in Istaravshan. Continue the journey north through changing landscapes, from mountain valleys to fertile lowlands, before arriving in Khujand, one of the largest and most vibrant cities in northern Tajikistan. Overnight at hotel Duration 6-8 hours
Day 4: Khujand, Tajikistan
After breakfast, enjoy a guided city tour of Khujand, one of the oldest cities in Central Asia with a rich Silk Road history. Start with a visit to the Khujand Fortress, a historic citadel that once protected the city and now houses interesting exhibits and a museum showcasing regional history and archaeology. Continue to the local museum to learn more about the culture and heritage of northern Tajikistan. Then explore the vibrant Panjshanbe Bazaar, one of the largest and most colorful markets in the country, full of fresh produce, spices, dried fruits, and local life. Next, visit the impressive Arbob Palace, an important historical and political site known for its grand architecture and significance in Tajik history. In the afternoon, transfer to the Tajikistan–Uzbekistan border (Tashkent direction), where the tour concludes.
