Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Too-Ashuu Pass, Kyrgyzstan to Suusamyr, Kyrgyzstan
We depart early from Bishkek and ascend the Too-Ashuu Pass (3,586 m), a stunning serpentine road with panoramic mountain views. Descending into the Suusamyr Valley, a vast pastureland dotted with yurts, we’ll stop to taste fresh kumis (fermented mare’s milk). Next, we cross the Ala-Bel Pass (3,175 m), transitioning from alpine meadows to dense forests, before entering the legendary Chychkan Gorge, known for its turquoise rivers and pine-covered slopes. Overnight: Cozy guesthouse in Chychkan, next to a river, under a starlit sky.
Day 2: Toktogul, Kyrgyzstan to Toktobek Say Ayyly, Kara-Köl, Kyrgyzstan
We continue to Toktogul, stopping at a viewpoint overlooking the vast Toktogul Reservoir, the largest lake in Kyrgyzstan. Here, our boat adventure begins! We’ll navigate through hidden coves and dramatic cliffs, venturing deep into the remote Toktobek-Sai, a secret canyon area with striking red rock formations. Overnight in a local village, enjoying homemade Kyrgyz cuisine and an evening by the fire.
Day 3: Toktobek Say Ayyly, Kara-Köl, Kyrgyzstan
At sunrise, we saddle up for a horseback expedition through the untouched Toktobek-Sai Canyons: Red Rock Canyon – narrow passageways surrounded by towering sandstone walls. Green Terraces – scenic plateaus with grass-covered ridges. Hidden Waterfalls – small mountain streams forming natural cascades among the cliffs. After a full day of exploration, we return to the village for a well-earned rest.
Day 4: Toktobek Say Ayyly, Kara-Köl, Kyrgyzstan to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Before heading back to Bishkek, we’ll visit a few little-known yet spectacular locations
