5 Day Bukhara-merv-ashgabat-darvaza-khiva Tour
About this tour
This 5 days tour covers all the essentials of Turkmenistan (Gates to Hell, Capital city of Ashgabat and the largest city in Turkmenistan, archeological site of the Great Merv), plus the Yangikala Canyons, which you will definitely love. We will travel only by car. The entrance is from Bukhara while the exit will be through Khiva.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Farab, Turkmenistan to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
We will meet with you at the border Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan, the place called Farab. Proceed to Turkmenabat city. Have lunch in Turkmenabat in a restaurant. Drive towards Merv. Ancient city in Turkmenistan. One of the greatest cities of the entire Islamic World and the ancient Persia. (220km, 5hrs) Reach the Merv city and start sightseeing. Have the dinner in a restaurant and drive towards Ashgabat. (370km, 4 hrs) Reach Ashgabat and check into a hotel. Overnight in Ashgabat.
Day 2: Ashgabat, Turkmenistan to Türkmenbaşy, Turkmenistan
09:00, After breakfast head towards Turkmenbashi city on the Caspian Sea. It is the first Russian city in the entire Central Asia. Old name of the city was Krasnovodsk, “Beautiful Waters”. On the way we will stop by Akhalteke horse farm, then Kow-Ata underground warm lake in a huge cave, and then romantic mountain village Nokhur. The lunch will be taken at one of the places (600km, 10hrs) 19:00, Reach the Caspian Sea and have some sightseeing there by car. We will also see Awaza, new tourist resort on the Caspian Caspian. 21:00, Dinner and check into a hotel. Overnight at Turkmenbashi city.
Day 3: Türkmenbaşy, Turkmenistan to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
08:00, After the breakfast head towards Yangikala Canyons, the views are like from another planet. Undoubtedly the most beautiful place in Turkmenistan. (150km, 3hrs) 11:00, Reach the Yangikala Canyons and spend some 3 hours around there. 14:00, Head to Ashgabat and have lunch on the way. 21:00, Reach Ashgabat and have dinner in a restaurant. 22:00, Check into a hotel. Overnight in Ashgabat.
Day 4: Ashgabat, Turkmenistan to Door to Hell, Derweze, Turkmenistan
08:00, After the breakfast start with the sightseeing of the Ashgabat city. 14:00, After lunch head towards Darvaza Gas Crater, also called “Gates of Hell”. (300km, 5 hrs) 19:00, Arrive at the Darvaza and have some time around the Burning Hole. 20:00, Have a dinner by the Darvaza, prepared locally by locals or the driver-guide. Have more time around Darvaza with excursion from the guide. Overnight at Darvaza in tents or yurts.
Day 5: Door to Hell, Derweze, Turkmenistan to Shavat Canal, Dashoguz, Turkmenistan
07:00, After the breakfast at Darvaza, head towards Dashoguz city which is on the Khiva direction. (300km, 7hrs, the road is under repair) 14:00, Reach Dashoguz city and have lunch in a restaurant. 16:00, Head to the border (“Shavat”) and Khiva. (it is recommended to be at the border before 17:00 the latest) End of the Tour!!!!
