Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Bishkek City, Kyrgyzstan to Chon-Kemin, Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek – Burana – Chon Kemin (ca. 200 km, 3h) 09:00 Briefing and meeting with your guide in the hotel lobby of „My Hotel” located in Bishkek at 121 Chui Avenue. (If the meeting place changes, you will be informed). After briefing with the guide, we begin our tour and drive towards Chon Kemin Valley (1450 m), situated in the northern part of Kyrgyzstan, famous for its beauty and stunning mountain views. On the way, we visit Burana Tower. The tower with funerary monuments, earthworks, the remains of a castle, and three mausoleums, is all that remains of the ancient city of Balasagyn. Lunch on the way (optional). You have opportunity to try traditional Kyrgyz kattama, a delicious flatbread. Upon arrival at the guesthouse, we start preparing boorsok, a traditional fried dough made for family celebrations and always served at the table. Day 2: Chon-Kemin, Kyrgyzstan
Chon Kemin (free day) Breakfast at the guesthouse. This day you will spend according to your wishes. You can hike to a scenic viewpoint of the Chon Kemin, where you will be able to enjoy stunning views of the valley, the village, and the surrounding landscape (ca. 2-3h). Lunch will be served at the guesthouse. Optionally, we propose you to watch a traditional horse game, Kok Boru, where horsemen compete to carry a goat carcass to the opposing team’s goal, showcasing their skills and strength (optional). It is also possible to enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through this beautiful village and explore the lifestyle of the local people (optional). Dinner at the guesthouse. Day 3: Chon-Kemin, Kyrgyzstan to Karakol, Kyrgyzstan
Chon Kemin – Semenov gorge – Karakol (ca. 320 km, 5h) After breakfast in the guesthouse, we go towards Issyk Kul lake, the pearl of Kyrgyzstan. Issyk Kul is the second largest alpine lake in the world. Its name means "hot lake" in Kyrgyz language. Lunch at restaurant in Cholpon Ata (optional). Along the way we visit Semenov gorge, located on the northern shore of Issyk Kul Lake. We can take a walk, enjoy the wild nature and have a pleasant pastime in this beautiful place. When we get to Karakol, we will visit its famous sights, such as the Russian Orthodox cathedral and Dungan mosque. For dinner we will go to a local restaurant where you can try ashlyam-fu, a dish that is famous in Karakol for its special taste (optional). Day 4: Karakol, Kyrgyzstan to Bokonbayevo, Kyrgyzstan
Karakol – Jeti Oguz – Barskoon – Skazka – Bokonbaevo (ca. 210 km, 3-4h) After breakfast, we head to Jeti Oguz gorge. The name of the gorge is symbolic and means “seven bulls” in Kyrgyz because there are seven giant red-brown rocks resembling furious bulls standing together. Lunch at the guesthouse or at a small café (optional). Then we go to the Barskoon Gorge, which is famous for its waterfalls. One of the best known is Tears of a Leopard. Here you find the monument for the first cosmonaut Yu. A. Gagarin, who was very fond of this place and rested in the nearby Tamga military sanatorium. Next destination is Skazka canyons, which translates from Russian as Fairytale. There you can find rocks of surprising shapes and sizes. A real skyscraper or an animal may appear in front of you. You can do short hiking in the canyons. Dinner and overnight at the guesthouse in the village of Bokonbaevo. Meals included: breakfast, dinner Accommodation: Guesthouse (Emily Guesthouse)
Day 5: Bokonbayevo, Kyrgyzstan to Kochkor, Kyrgyzstan
Bokonbaevo – Ak Say – Kyzyl Tuu – Kochkor (ca. 120 km, 3h) After breakfast at the guesthouse, we will meet an eagle hunter with his bird of prey. Eagle hunting is one of the ancient traditions of nomads. Then we go to the canyons of Ak Say. We hike to the panoramic point to enjoy a magnificent view of the canyons and lake opening in front of us. Lunch in the guesthouse in Kyzyl Tuu village known as the birthplace of yurts. After lunch, we will enjoy a yurt-making demonstration, where a local family will share the secrets of this ancient craft passed down through generations. The next stop is Kochkor, known for its felt and skilled artisans. Upon arrival, we meet Kyrgyz women who will demonstrate the traditional art of carpet-making using felt. Before dinner, we enjoy a vibrant folk music performance by Kyrgyz musicians, showcasing traditional melodies. Dinner at the local café or guesthouse. Day 6: Kochkor, Kyrgyzstan to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Kochkor – Bishkek (ca. 200 km, 4h) After breakfast at the guesthouse, we head back to Bishkek again via Orto-Tokoi reservoir and Boom gorge. Upon arrival in Bishkek, you will be dropped off at the starting point of the tour - in the hotel lobby of „My Hotel” located at 121 Chui Avenue. End of our services.
