Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ashgabat, Turkmenistan to Ertugrul Gazi Mosque, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
Meet the local guide at the Ashgabat/Iran border. Transfer to the hotel. Rest time. Lunch at a local restaurant (not included in tour price). Proceed to Nisa, the residence of Parthian Kings (III BC-III AD), located 15 km from Ashgabat. In the IV century BC, the Achaemenid Empire was ruined by the strikes of Alexander’s troops. During the period of the Seleucids, the successors of Alexander, three independent states were established: Bactria, Khorezm, and Parthia. Among these three states, Parthia existed for a long time, from the 3rd century BC till the 3rd century AD. During its existence, Parthia had several capital cities. Nisa was one of the legendary and mysterious cities in the Kingdom of Parthia. Seyit Jemaletdin Mosque National History Museum. Monument of Independence. Further city visit: Turkmen Carpet Museum: Archaeological data places carpet making on the territory of Turkmenistan as early as the 6th century B.C. The remains of a carpet that archaeologists found in the 1940s at Altai are two-thousand-five hundred years old. Research shows that the design is very similar to the carpets of today. It took centuries for these designs to develop, and the decoration of the carpets is extremely original, reflecting stylized articles of the real world surrounding nomadic livestock breeders. Ornaments are geometric, and a love of deep, rich red is an artistic tradition of the carpets. Arch of Neutrality. 18:00 - Transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Kow Ata, Turkmenistan to Yangykala-Schlucht, Turkmenistan
After breakfast, drive to the underground lake “Kow-Ata” (100 km west of Ashgabat), in the depths of 60 meters from the entrance to the cave of Kopetdag mountains located lake with healing water, which breaths with warm steam. Swimming in this water has a beneficial effect on the body and helps cure many diseases. Break for lunch at the place. Drive to Nohur – a mountain village (50 km from the cave). High in the Kopetdag mountains, the village of Nohur and neighbouring towns are located on the steep sides of the mountain valleys and differ from other Turkmenistan regions. Surrounded by mountains, the village provides a unique opportunity to walk in nature and discover a deep rural lifestyle. Explore the place. Drive to Balkanabad (420 km westerly of Ashgabat). Then, drive to Yangigala Canyons with your Turkmenistan tour guide. Dinner in Yangigala (not included in tour price). Explore the canyons (130 km westerly of Balkanabad) with marvellous natural objects like Yangigala Canyons located northwest of Turkmenistan in the Balkan region. Translating from the Turkmen language, Yangigala means fire fortress. This name was given to the canyons because of the red colour made by nature, mountain ranges and cliffs.
Day 3: Yangykala Canyon, Tersakkan, Turkmenistan to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
After breakfast, we see the Yangigala Canyon and drive to Ashgabat. In the afternoon, have lunch at a local restaurant in Ashgabat (lunch is not included in the tour price). Accommodate in a hotel and have lunch and rest time. Drive to Horse Farm to see a National Pride of Turkmen people - Akhalteke horses, the most excellent horses in the world. 5000 years ago, Turkmens began to breed Akhalteke horses. The world’s unique breed was never mixed with other breeds. Such illustrious Emperors like Alexander the Great and Darius I desired to own Ahalteke horses. There are many beautiful horses on the farm. Per superstition, every sick person who touches an Ahalteke horse will get well soon. Then, the drive to Gokdepe Castle Historical Fortress was attacked in December 1880 by the Russian Empire Army. The siege of Gokdepe lasted 23 days, after which the city was taken by storm. Further city visit to Ashgabat 18:00 - Transfer to the hotel.
Day 4: Altyn Asyr Bazar, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan to Darvaza Gas Crater - "Door to Hell", Derweze, Turkmenistan
Meet the local guide at the hotel lobby. 9:00 After breakfast, visit the eastern bazaar “Altyn Asyr” is the first largest market in Ashgabat and Turkmenistan and the 5th largest in Central Asia. Located in the suburbs of Ashgabat, in the Choganly residential area. Built in a shape reminiscent of a carpet göl of the Ahal velayat, a huge area of 154 hectares. Afternoon, have lunch at a local restaurant ( lunch not included in the tour price) Continue driving through the Karakum desert to Darvaza. In the afternoon, at 15:00, we take a trip to Darvaza – Gas Crater, which is a huge flaming crater located 270 km north of Ashgabat. Visiting one of the villages, Bahardok or Erbentto, observe the rural life of Turkmen people. Continue with moving to the Water, Clay and Gas Crater. In the evening, enjoy the spectacular and fascinating view of the gas crater. Visit the Gas Crater. Stay in a camp with tasty catering; the perfect way to enjoy this highlight. Observe the fantastic view of the crater during daylight and at night, feel the heat, and listen to the sound that this giant oven creates. Accommodation - Overnight in a tent under the starry sky
Day 5: Dashoguz, Turkmenistan to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
After breakfast at Darwaza, Drive to Kone-Urgench (261km, 4:35 min). KoneUrgench (UNESKO 2005) ancient capital of Khorezm. Lunch. Visit mausoleums of II Arslan and SoltanTekesh, Nejmeddin Kubra, Soltan Ali, Turabek –Khanum (12th c), minaret of KutlugTimur, Mamun II. After the excursion, transfer to the airport of Dashoguz city for a flight to Ashgabad (time of flight can be changed). Transfer to hotel in Ashgabat. Dinner. Rest time. Dinner at the hotel. Accommodation – Overnight at a Hotel or similar.
Day 6: Ashgabat, Turkmenistan to Farab, Turkmenistan
Early morning checkout from the Hotel, Transfer to the airport for a local flight T5-127 Ashgabat-Mary at 06:15/06:55. From Mary airport, drive to Old Merv (UNESCO World Heritage). Merv was located at the road crossing of the Great Silk Road and quickly became one of the largest and biggest cities of the ancient world. Guided tour: Merv Gala, drive to Turkmenabat city, continue with moving to the Turkmen-Uzbek border Farap/Alat (Uzbekistan). Meals - breakfast at a local restaurant / Lunch at a local traditional restaurant (not included in tour price)
