Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Фараб, Туркменистан to Ашхабад, Туркменистан
The Odyssey Begins: 09:00 — Meeting on the Turkmen side of the Farap (Alat) border crossing. We take care of all formalities so that your introduction to the country is smooth and effortless. A Journey to the Origins: A direct drive to the Merv oasis (approx. 250 km). Before diving into history, enjoy a traditional lunch in a cosy local teahouse in Bayramaly. The Majesty of Ancient Merv (UNESCO): Enjoy a comprehensive tour of one of the greatest metropolises of the past. Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum: A 12th-century Seljuk masterpiece that still inspires awe with its grandeur. Greater and Lesser Kyz-Kala: Mysterious “corrugated” fortresses rising from the desert sands. Shrines of the Ashabs: Visit the sacred burial sites of the Prophet Muhammad’s companions. Engineering Secrets: Explore medieval hammams and unique water storage systems (sardobas). Citadel Panoramas: Ascend the walls of Erk-Kala and Gyaur-Kala to see the entire archaeological park at a glance. Towards the Radiant Capital: Transfer to Ashgabat (approx. 350 km). Evening in the City of the Future: Check-in at the hotel. Optional night tour: see how the futuristic white-marble monuments transform under unique illuminations. Overnight: A comfortable hotel in Ashgabat.
Day 2: Ашхабад, Туркменистан to Darvaza Gas Crater, Дарваза, Туркменистан
Capital Highlights: Continue exploring Ashgabat at a flexible pace. We will visit the landmarks that interest you most. The Heart of the Karakum: After lunch at a local restaurant, we head north into the vast sands (270 km). Natural Phenomena: En route, we stop at the Water and Mud craters to witness the desert’s strange, “pulsating” forms of life. The Magic of Darvaza: Arrival at the world-famous “Gates of Hell”. Sunset and Flame: A golden hour photoshoot followed by an atmospheric BBQ dinner right at the edge of the blazing abyss under the canopy of the southern sky. Night in a Yurt: Sleeping in a traditional Turkmen yurt allows you to truly feel the spirit and silence of the desert.
Day 3: Darvaza Gas Crater, Дарваза, Туркменистан to Кёнеургенч, Туркменистан
Dawn Silence: An early visit to the crater for final photographs in the soft morning light. The Road to Ancient Khorezm: Breakfast at the camp and a drive across the desert highway to the monuments of Kunya-Urgench (260 km). UNESCO Heritage: A tour of ancient architectural masterpieces. Kutlug-Timur Minaret: The tallest in Central Asia, reaching for the heavens. Turabek-Khanum Mausoleum: Famed for its exquisite and unique mosaic ceiling. Mausoleums of Sultan Tekesh and Il-Arslan: Majestic monuments of the Khorezmshah era. Seamless Transition: Transfer to your chosen border (Shavat — for Khiva; Hojayli — for Nukus). Assistance with formalities and return to Uzbekistan.

Due to platform settings, prices are displayed in EUR, but the remaining 90% balance must be paid in USD cash upon arrival according to our fixed USD price list. We appreciate your understanding. Price includes: Letter of Invitation (LOI) and mandatory registration assistance, private 4x4 transport with fuel and professional driver, English-speaking guide, all accommodations (standard hotels and yurt camp), meeting at the border and seeing off, daily breakfasts, BBQ dinner at Darvaza, all museum entrance fees and photography permits (for sites visited with the guide), and travel insurance.
Not included: Visa fees and border taxes (paid at the border), international flights, lunches (approx. $3-8 per meal), personal expenses (souvenirs, laundry, minibar), tips for guide and driver (optional but appreciated), and fees at the "Turkmen Ojagy" Ethnographic Complex.

Visa: The visa fee is paid separately at the embassy or right at the border. Drones: Please note that drones are strictly prohibited in Turkmenistan. Logistics: The tour starts and ends at the Turkmenistan side of the border (Farap, Shavat, or Hojayli). Pickup and drop-off are included. Payment: The remaining 90% of the tour price must be paid in USD cash upon arrival.
