About this tour
Four-day tour to the Fan Mountains and western Tajikistan.
The tour will take place by car to the most interesting places. We will get acquainted with the ancient history of Penjikent, with the legends and nature of Iskanderkul lake, and we will also have time for hiking along the 7 Marguzor lakes, spending the night in a private house and meeting the local people. and local culture.
At the end of the tour there will be an interesting excursion around the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Dushanbe, Tajikistan to Marguzor, Tajikistan
Day 1 Dushanbe – Penjikent - 7 lakes. In the morning meeting in Dushanbe with our guide and driver, departure to the Penjikent city which is 240km from Dushanbe. Our road today will be along Varzob gorge, thru the Anzob pass ( tunnel) and along Zeravshan valley. Upon arrival in Penjikent we will have sight sing tour there. Visits: Ancient Penjikent excavation, Sarazm excavation, central bazar. After excursions departure to the beautiful Marguzor lakes ( 7 lakes) along the valley and thru the small mountain villages up to the lake # 4, accommodation in home stay of local family, which made like a guest house with all the necessary conditions. Day 2: Marguzor, Tajikistan
Day 2 walking day along 7 lakes are. Full day in the area of beautiful Marguzor lakes. After breakfast we will start walking tour along 7 lakes along the tight mountain road , thru the small local villages up to lake # 7 (Hazorchashma lake ) . Meet local people on the way. Picknick upon arrival at the Hazorchashma lake, free time for explore the area. At the end of the hike, our driver will take us to our homestay. Dinner at the homestaty, it’s a good time to discuss our day and talk about your impressions. Day 3: Marguzor, Tajikistan to Iskanderkul, Tajikistan
Day 3 7 lakes – Iskanderkul lake After breakfast, we will leave 7 lakes and take you to the other side of the Fan Mountains, to Lake Iskanderkul, which means Lake of Alexander ( Alexander the Great, Iskander is his name in Central Asia, many legends about that era are associated with this lake). We will drive through the Zeravshan Valley, and And in the right place we will turn off the asphalt road and along the Iskanderkul river we will go higher to the lake, passing a small pass. After passing the pass, we will have a wonderful view of the lake. Photostops. Upon arrival at the hotel, check in. Next, we will go on a walking tour to the waterfall of the Iskanderkul River (called the Tajik Niagara). And also to the nearby Snake Lake. After all the excursions, we return to our hotel on the shore of the lake. Dinner and rest. Day 4: Iskanderkul, Tajikistan to Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Day 4 Iskanderkul – Dushanbe In the morning after breakfast we leave the Iskanderkul lake and return to Dushanbe the same way. Upon arrival in Dushanbe, we will have time for a full city tour. Visits: Museum of the History of Tajikistan, Flagpole (164 m), the highest in the world in 2011-2014, Ethnographic Museum, the main city square Dusti (which translates as friendship), a monument to the Tajik king Ismail Somoni, which ruled the territory of the Somonids dynasty in the 8-9 centuries, which covered the territories of many modern countries from South Kazakhstan to Iran and Pakistan. Visit to the new main city bazaar, Mehrgon. After the end of the city tour, we will take you to your hotel.
