Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Arrive to Ulaanbaatar airport.Meet you at the airport in Ulaanbaatar.Have a nice lunch. Drive to Kharkhoriim province.It takes 300km.It has a nice pave road.Kharhoriim is the ancient capital of Mongolia. There is a Buddist Temple and ancient Buddist museum.Visiting historical part of Kharhorin Camping around river Chuulut.
Day 2: Kharkhorin, Mongolia to Khorgo, Mongolia
Today our direction to drive to Khorgo volcanic mountain. Driving day 200km. 660 km from Ulaanbaatar, 180 km northwest of Tsetserleg town, and just 4 km from Tariat soum (administrative unit) of Arkhangai province. One of the natural highlights of Arkhangai province, the awe-inspiring Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan National Park comprises of two famous attractions: Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake or Great White Lake and dormant volcano Khorgo. 77267 hectares of Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake area is extremely rich in wildlife and flora, which was designated as a national park to protect the spectacular mountain scenery and endangered species. 2210 m high Khorgo volcano is one of the 10 volcanoes in the national park, became extinct about 8000 years ago. The larch tree forest covers the northern slope of the volcano while its crater is 200 m in diameter, with a depth of 70-80 m. Visitors climb the volcano on stairs and trails, and upon reaching the top, walk along the volcano rim with outstanding views of surrounding areas; a small village can be seen from the volcano as well as a bird’s eye view of Terhkiin Tsagaan Lake. Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan mapKhorgo volcanoKhorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan National Park Astonishingly beautiful, the clear water lake Terkhiin Tsagaan formed after lava flows from the volcanoes blocked the north and south water access from the Terkh Rivers. The lake is renowned for its fish and birdlife, including the Ruddy Shellduck and Great Cormorant. There are 8 more inflows to the lake while only the Suman River sources out. The lake is 16 km long, 6-10 km wide, 20m deep, and lies 2060 m above sea level. There are some local family-run guest gers and ger camps (available between early June and late September) along the northern and eastern shores of the lake. It is amazing to see the nomads settled on the slopes of the mountains in the south overlooking the beautifully calm lake. The national park is packed with nomads and their fenceless grazing herds of livestock including countless yaks. Afternoon swimming in the lake, trekking, mountain climbing, fishing (need a permit), bird watching, motor boating, horse trekking, and nomad life experiences are the possibilities in the national park. You will hiking to Khorgo volcanic mountain.Amazing view of Khorgo Feel fresh air,feel Mongolia. It is advised to wear comfortable shoes and bring a windbreaker as the weather tends to be inflexible there. Stay in a gercamp.
Day 3: Khorgo, Mongolia to Khyargas Lake, Mongolia
Today our direction to Khyargus lake.Long driving day.It has a nice pave road.600km. Start driving early morning.Khyargas Lake receives a lot less attention than Uvs Nuur, being 'only' half the size and 'only' twice as salty as the ocean. The lake does provide an attractive summer home for birds, but it is not as scenic or as accessible as other lakes in the region. It is still worth a stopover if you are travelling between Uvs lake and Khar Us lake in Khovd aimag, or driving or hitching towards Tosontsengel in Zavkhan through the mid-eastern part of Uvs aimag. On the north-western side of Khyargas lake, there are some fantastic hot springs. Head for the abandoned village where the road leaves the lake, or ask directions at Naranbulag. A national park fee applies around the lake, though you'd be lucky (or unlucky) to find a ranger to pay it to. South of Khyargas lake, but still in the national park is the freshwater lake Airag Lake, at the end of the mighty Zavkhan Gol. Despite the name, the lake is not full of fermented mare's milk, but it does have about 20 breeding pairs of migratory Dalmation pelicans. There were about 400 pelicans in the 1960s, but the numbers are tragically decreasing because poachers kill them for their beaks, which are used to make a traditional implement for cleaning horses, called a khusuur, or currycomb, which you may see in use at the Naadam Festival. Day 4: Khyargas Lake, Mongolia to Chandmani, Mongolia
Today is our direction to Gobi desert Chandmani ,Mongol Els Gobi desert. Long driving day first drive to Hovd town.It takes 150km dusting road. Visiting Hovd town and continue driving to Chandmani Mongol Els Gobi desert.From Hovd to Chandmani it takes 160km.Half of them pave road ,then dusting road. Camping on Gobi desert
Day 5: Chandmani, Mongolia to Mongol Els, Mongolia
Another beautiful day on Gobi desert Chandmani Mongol Els. It is the biggest Gobi desert in Mongolia. Wonder of Nature. You can see amazing view of lanscape.You can see snow peaks Jargalant. And the most beautiful Durguun lake is surrounded by sand dunez.The most highest sand dunez is 20m. Hiking day on sand dunez.You can also use board.Spend time more outside activity. The most important thing is this Gobi desert not touristic spot.Very less information on internet. You can see all the colors there and all the season.Snow mountain and green grass. Hearing amazing voice of sand dunez.Enjoy the sunset on the top of Sand dunez. There is noone.Even nomads do not live there.If nomads come to gobi desert we can ask to ride a camel. Day 6: Mongol Els, Mongolia to Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia
Today our direction to Bayan Olgii city.It has a nice pave road.Drive to 290km. On the way pass to Hovd town. In Hovd you can meet Mongolian throat singer. Share unique culture of throat singer in Mongolia. Driving day to Bayan Olgii city. Bayan Olgii city is the center of Western Mongolia Homeland of Altai Golden Eagle hunters. Amazing landscape.Highlights of Mongolia is in Bayan Olgii area. If you want to see Central Asia ,come to see Bayan Olgii town.Bayan Olgii has a colorful culture. Share unique culture of Mongolian people,Kazakh people,Tuvan ,Kyrgys people. Enjoy the view of landscape on driving day. Day 7: Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia to Altai, Mongolia
Today our direction to Altai village. Drive to Altai village 150km.Dusting road. Amazing landscape.Different location. Amazing view of snow peaks. One of the most beautiful area on Altai mountains.You are on Altai Jolt National Park. Stay in a big traditional Ger.
Day 8: Altai, Mongolia
Today is more exciting day. Altai Nomads Games Eagle festival.This Festival has up to 35-40 Kazakh Eagle Master participants and their magnificent hunting eagles. It will be organized in Altai town, home to many talented eagle hunters and Master eagle trainers. The festival itself is smaller in size than the other two festivals. Among the three Golden Eagle Festivals, this “Golden Eagle Hunters Festival of Altai” is the youngest but most enjoyed locally in Altai sum or town (5 000 inhabitants) in Mongolia. It is organized in collaboration with the local Eagle Hunters community. Most importantly, this Golden Eagle Festival tour is perfect for travelers who enjoy a more local, smaller festival with fewer tourists. Day 9: Altai Mountains, Mongolia to Altai, Mongolia
Today is Eagle festival day.Enjoy the festival.After a filling breakfast, we go on a short drive to the “Golden Eagle Hunters Festival of Altai” festival site. The competition begins with a parade of Eagle hunters in their traditional hunting outfits and accessories with their Eagles perched on their arms. The most elaborate and beautiful adornments of the hunters receive the highest marks, so the hunters are all dressed to truly impress. The parade is closely followed by thrilling competitions. The Golden Eagles are evaluated for their speed, agility, and accuracy. This festival which continues for 2 days, provides a unique opportunity to be close and be part of the festivity and to photograph. We organize lunch at the festival area and dinner in Ulgii town. Ger stay /B,L,D/ Today, another day with more equine games such as mounted horse archery, woman horse competitions, and of course Eagle competitions. Afterward, there will be award-giving ceremonies. Day 10: Altai, Mongolia to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, Mongolia
Today our direction to drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. Driving day 270km. Dusting road. Enjoy the landscape. Reach to southwest ranger station on Altai mountain. Camping around white river.We called river Yak milk . Amazing view of Altai mountain. Visiting Tuvan people around Yak milk river.Share nomadic life. Taste traditional food yak cheese. Help them milking crazy yaks.
Day 11: Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, Mongolia
Today is more exciting day. Hiking day to basecamp.18km. Early morning start to hiking day. All the stuffs packing on the camel.And camel caravan join our hiking day.Follow the camel caravan. Amazing view of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.The altitute is 3000m. Camping on basecamp.
Day 12: Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, Mongolia
Today is more exciting day.Hiking day to Malchin peak.Malchin peak is 4050m. It is the one of the highest peak of Mongolia.It is the one peak that possible to hike.Do not need any special equipment.You can wear Soft ,nice waterproof boots. Amazing view of Altai Peaks. Holly five peaks. Sacred mountain rangers. Amazing view of the most highest peak of Mongolia: Huiten peak 4375m. Malchin peak 4050m. Eagle peak 4100m Naran peak 3900m. Olgii peak 4010m. Today is driving back to Bayan Olgii city.Driving day 200km.Dusting road. Next to Bayan Olgii city is Sagsai village.Sagsai village is homeland of great eagle hunters.I want to invite you visiting Eagle huntress .Aymoldr.The most youngest Eagle huntress in the world.Horse riding day in the afternoon. In the evening drive to Bayan Olgii town.Stay inhotel.tHave a nice dinner in Turkish Pammuk restaurant.
Day 14: Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
