Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Serakhs, Turkmenistan to Mary, Turkmenistan
Sarahs border– Merv - Mary Today right after breakfast we say good-bye to Iran as we make our way to Turkmenistan border Sarahs. Upon arrival to the border point go through custom procedures and continue to drive to have lunch at the local restaurant in Mary city. Drive to visit an Ancient Merv- was located at the road crossing of the Great Silk Road and quickly became one of the largest and biggest cities of the ancient world and was one of the most important capitals of Islam along with Baghdad, Cairo and Damascus. Guided tour: Gyz Gala, Erk Gala, Soltan Gala, SoltanSanjar Mausoleum, IbnZeid Mausoleum. Continue driving to Mary city accommodate at the hotel and dinner at the local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Mary, Turkmenistan
Ancient Margush –Museum of History After the breakfast, the group will visit the fifth center of civilization Margush/ Gonurdepe. A remarkable Bronze Age civilization existed here, known variously as Margush, meaning 'lowland', or by the Greek name of Margiana. It has been gradually uncovered since the early 1970s by belated Professor Viktor Sarianidi - the leader of Margiana Archaeological Expedition. The Bronze Age sites are to be found at or beyond the northern edge of the present-day oasis, in land which is now desert. Sarianidi argues that the Bactria- Margiana complex was a major centre of ancient civilization, and has speculated that Margiana may even have been a birthplace of Zoroastrianism.
Day 3: Mary, Turkmenistan to Farab, Turkmenistan
Mary – Turkmenabad - Farap/Alatborder After breakfast, hotel check out and drive to Turkmenabad city. Lunch at Turkmenabat’s local restaurant. Continue driving to Turkmen-Uzbek border Farap/Alat. Cross the border at 14:00 – 15:00 pm.
