Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Almaty, Kazakhstan to Bogdanovicha Glacier, Kazakhstan
Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Almaty and a scenic drive to Shymbulak Mountain Resort, located in the heart of the Ile Alatau National Park. From here, you’ll start your guided hike to the Bogdanovich Glacier, one of the most accessible glaciers near Almaty. The trail gradually climbs through pine forests, alpine meadows, and rocky paths surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Along the way, your guide will share stories about the local flora, fauna, and geology of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. After 2–3 hours of hiking, you’ll reach the Bogdanovich Glacier viewpoint (around 3,500 meters) — a breathtaking landscape of ice, rock, and sky. Here you can rest, take photos, and enjoy a picnic with mountain tea and local snacks. In the afternoon, you’ll descend back to Shymbulak and return to Almaty with unforgettable memories of your day in the mountains.
