Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Osh, Kyrgyzstan to Tulpar kul, Sary Mogul, Kyrgyzstan
In the morning leave for Tulpar kol via Alai and Chon Alai valley, best scenery of TienShan and Pamir Alai high mountain transaction, Chiyirchik (2600m), Taldik (3600m)Katin Art (3500m) passes. Stop for lunch in Sary Tash, continue trip up about 15km to Tulpar kul lake yurt camp to see the most amazing views of many small lakes among hills.Hike to the viewpoint of Peak Lenin or to the alpinists' base camp on the other side of a river. Come back to camp. Accommodate in a yurta or drive to guest house in Sary Mogul
Day 2: Tulpar kul, Sary Mogul, Kyrgyzstan to Murghab, Tajikistan
In the morning leave for Pamir Karakul lake, today you'd cross the country borders, each border control will take half an hour, after Kyrgyz border rive up to Kyzyl art pass 4282 m, at the top of the pass welcoming sign of Tajikistan Pamir stop for photo, there also border control check points, across the border an half an hour you ll see the largest lake Karakul, enjoy the beatiful landscape of the area, there is a small village 800 people lives. Short stop near the lake. Drive through second highest pass Akbaital 4655m, at the top of pass have a break, photo and short hike, then drive to Murghab village is a capital town of the region, population 17000 , majority is Kyrgyz people. Overnight in home stay.
Day 3: Murghab, Tajikistan to Langar, Tajikistan
Murghab-Bulun kul-Yashil kul lake Leave Murgab early morning drive to Bulunkul and Yashil Kul lakes. On the way stop at Ak Balyk ata. The water is unusually clean and torqious, sometimes wigh full of fish, the place is considered to be sacred by locals. Reach tiny village of Bulun kul. After lunch drive up the hill to see another lake Yashil kul. Admire the beauty of nature on the coast of these lakes surrounded by mountains. Lunch in the village, from the village leave for Wakhan valley via Khargush pass 4235m, through the Khargush pass from there to Langar you follow the Afghan border perhaps you'd see Afghan caravans across the Panj river, lunch time get to Langar after lunch cimbing the hill for seeing the petroglyphs. On the rocks there are hundred of petroglyphs. Stay in one of guest houses in Langar.
Day 4: Langar, Tajikistan to Khorog, Tajikistan
Langar - Khorog (today we have lots of stops to see on the way in Wakhan corridor) Fist we stop at Budda Stupa to see an ancient Buddist monastry, then a bit further we stop at Museum of Sufi Mubarakqadam and solar calendar. Next stop is at Yamgchun Fort and Bibi Fatima hot spring there is a swimming pool have nice swim and relax at the beautiful gorge seeing the Hindu Kush high mountains. There you will have a picnic for lunch ad the food in Wakhan is usually not fresh and satisfied. Continue your trip to Khorog. Accommodate in Khorog.
Day 5: Khorog, Tajikistan to Bartang, Tajikistan
Khorog-Yemts village in Bartang Today you ll have chance to see the Afghan poeple in the local market. Go around market, then visit natural park of Khorog there you can shop in handicraft shops and tourist information center. After that drive up to see the second highest botanical garden in the world with full of fruits and best view of Khorog town from above. Go around forest, try fruits. After a lunch in the market, Leave the tiny beautiful town heading to Bartang valley. Hiking in jizev driver will take you to the where you start hiking. First part of hike is going up to pass and second part is flat trail. Cross lakes and arrive at village, which is very small. They can provide you lunch and beds for nights if you want to stay. Here if you like the place and want to stay for night
Day 6: Bartang, Tajikistan
Jizev-Kalai kum From village drive to Kalai kum through toughest part of Pamir Highway. There are many small afgan villages on Afgan side, can stop to take their pictures. Very high Pamir mountains will join you all day Accommodate in guest house.
Day 7: Kalaikhum, Tajikistan to Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Khalaikum to Dushanbe via Kulob. In the morning after breakfast leave for Dushanbe via souther route Kulob the first 100km you have chance see the Afghan villages after Shurobod pass get to Kulob visit the historical sight of Mirsaidaali Hamodonie's museum and Madrassas complex, lunch in Kulob, next stop in Khulbuk there is a Khulbuk fortress belongs to the 9, 11 th centuries. Then to Dushanbe through Sharshar pass and tunnel top of the pass views of the Nurak dam, the lake is green color looks spectacularly scenery from the pass, welcome to Dushanbe capital city of Tajikistan. Accommodate in Dushanbe. End of tour!
