Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Душанбе, Таджикистан to Калаихум, Таджикистан
Early in the morning, we will drive to Qalaikhum town. Along the road, we will stop at the top of Chormaghzak pass where opens an amazing view of the Norak water reservoir. It is a famous location among local taxi drivers as here located a small bazaar with a lot of eateries. Then we will stop at Hulbuk fortress where you will get an introduction to the history of Tajik people and Hamadoni mausoleum. Your tour guide will tell you about the history of spreading Islam religion in Tajikistan and about the Pre-Islamic culture and traditions. Half of the road lies along the Afghanistan border so we will be able to see a lot of Afghani villages. • Driving distance: 370km • Driving time: 7 hours
Day 2: Калаихум, Таджикистан to Рушан, Таджикистан
We start our day by visiting the Karon Ancient town that is a few minutes driving from Qalaikhum. It is a very old historical heritage that belongs to the pre-Islamic period. Some sources say that the founder of the Zoroastrian religion Zarathustra was born in these areas. Your tour guide will tell you all about the history of this place. Then we will drive along the Panj river that divides Tajikistan and Afghanistan. At Rushon village we will visit the local`s family house. You will see the real-life of indigenous people. In addition, your tour-guide takes you to the agricultural lands of the village and tells bout the main source of local’s people. Day 3: Рушан, Таджикистан to Бартанг, Таджикистан
Today we will drive to Bartang valley. Trekking to Jizew will take about 4 hours but what you will see there never makes you regret. It is the most beautiful village in Pamir. (from my point of view). Walking around Jizew. Overnight in the homestay. • Driving distance: 40 km • Trekking Distance: 8 km • Trekking time: 4 hours
Day 4: Бартанг, Таджикистан to Хорог, Таджикистан
Early in the morning, we will walk back to the automobile-road where we will be picked up and then driving to Khorog. Upon arriving you will be accommodated and after an hour of free time, we will explore the city. Firstly, we will visit the famous Botanical Garden in Khorog city that is the second-highest in the world. Then visit the oldest Pamirian house and Muhamad Rajput museum. In the museum, the tour guide will tell you about the branch of Islam that people in Pamir follows. Dinner we will have at a very nice restaurant with Chorbogh's name. It is located on the shore of the Gund river. Overnight in the hotel. • Driving distance: 90 km • Driving time: 2 hours
Day 5: Хорог, Таджикистан to Yamg primary school, Вранг, Таджикистан
Today we will drive along the Wakhan Corridor to Yamg village. In some areas of the road, it is possible to see the Mountain Peaks that are in the territory of Pakistan. The Wakhan Corridor is a narrow territory belonging to Afghanistan and separating Tajikistan and Pakistan. Along the road, we will visit Yamchun fortress. It is located at the elevation of 2500 m. and there opens an amazing view of the Hindukush Mountains. Other interesting places that we will visit during the day are Qah-Qaha fortress, Mubarak Wakhani Museum, and Bibi Fatima hot spring. Overnight will be in real Pamirian house. Your tour guide will tell you about the meaning of each part of the Pamirian house. • Driving distance: 195 km • Driving time: 4-5 hours
Day 6: Yamg primary school, Вранг, Таджикистан to Лангар, Таджикистан
Early in the morning we will leave the Yamg village and drive to Langar village. After arriving we will trek to Engels peak that will take about 4-5 hours one way. In the evening a musical performance with traditional dances will be organized. Overnight will be in a homestay in Langar village. • Driving distance: 32 km • Driving time: 1 hour • Trekking distance: 24 km • Trekking time: 8-9 hours
Day 7: Лангар, Таджикистан to Alichur, Таджикистан
Early in the morning, we will drive to Bulunkul lake. Bulunkul is one of the most beautiful lakes in Central Asia. It is located at an elevation of 4000 m. The color of the lake is blue and it connects the Yashilkul lake with a narrow channel. In summertime people from Bulunkul village fishing here and it is one of the important sources of income for them. Close to the lake is located a small hot spring with mineral water. After visiting the lake and lunch in the Bulunkul village we will drive to Alichur village. Alichur is the village where the inhabitants are Kyrgyz people. In the village, it could be organized a Yak riding activity. Overnight in homestay or yurt. • Driving distance: 155 km • Driving time: 6 hours
Day 8: Alichur, Таджикистан to Каракуль, Таджикистан
Early in the morning, we will drive to Karakul village. Along the road, we will cross the Ak-Baytal pass. This pass with an elevation of 4655m. will be the highest point of our trip. Karakul village is a small village with a view like the post-apocalyptic period where nothing grows. After arriving at the village we will have lunch and rest for an hour. After getting fresh it is possible to go trekking to the Karakul peninsula where opens view to both sides of the Lake. Karakul lake is the biggest lake in Tajikistan and only a lake with salt-water. Overnight will be in the homestay or yurt. • Driving distance: 236 km • Driving time: 7 hours
Day 9: Каракуль, Таджикистан to Ош, Киргизия
