Embark on an epic 3-day Star Wars adventure in Tunisia, exploring the iconic filming locations featured in the Skywalker Saga. From the island of Djerba to Tataouine and Matmata, follow in the footsteps of George Lucas. On Day 1, visit Mos Eisley in Ajim, Ben Kenobi's house , and Sidi Jemour (Anchorhead) – where stormtrooper control, the Cantina, and Luke's speeder arrival were filmed. On Day 2, explore Tataouine (the city that gave Tatooine its name), Ksar Hadada and Ksar Ouled Soltane (slave quarters from Episode I), hike the Berber village of Chenini , then spend a night in a desert camp at Ksar Ghilane – swim in the hot spring, watch sunset, see sand bread preparation, and enjoy a campfire. On Day 3, visit the Sidi Driss hotel in Matmata (Lars' dining room and kitchen from Episode IV), meet a Berber family in their underground dwelling for rosemary tea, and stop at the Berber village of Toujane for photos. This is the ultimate Star Wars pilgrimage for true fans.
Day 1 – Djerba: Mos Eisley, Ben's House & Anchorhead On the first day, you will visit the filming locations of the Star Wars Saga on Djerba. Ajim (Mos Eisley – Episode IV): Stormtrooper control – The checkpoint where Ben and Luke were controlled ("These are not the droids you are looking for.") The place is difficult to recognize due to set modifications. Chalmun's Cantina – An old traditional Berber bakery, now in disrepair. Millennium Falcon flight – The alley where the Falcon flew under the noses of stormtroopers. Ben's House (Ajim) – 3 km north of Ajim on the coastal road to Sidi Jemour. This old fisherman's house was used in April 1976 to film Ben Kenobi's house during his exile on Tatooine. It has become a high place of pilgrimage. Sidi Jemour (Anchorhead / Mos Eisley – Episode IV) – About a dozen kilometers north of Ajim. This marabout (dome tomb) / mosque was used for two scenes: A cut scene outside Anchorhead (Tosche Station scene between Luke and Biggs) The arrival scene of Luke and Ben in speeder at Mos Eisley Departure to Beni Khedache for dinner and overnight. Photo stop at Ain El Emba at the mountain's peak for breathtaking landscape. Admire the sunset over the mountain. Accommodation: Half-board (dinner + overnight)
Day 2 – Tataouine (Tatooine), Slave Quarters & Ksar Ghilane Desert Camp After breakfast, head to Tataouine , the city from which George Lucas drew the name Tatooine. Ksar Hadada – One of the ksours used to film the Mos Espa sets on August 10, 1997, specifically the slave quarters scenes in Episode I (Qui-Gon contacts Obi-Wan via comlink; Shmi's "He has no father" scene). Chenini Berber village – Hiking tour with a local guide. Lunch at a local restaurant. Ksar Ouled Soltane – One of the best-preserved ksours in Tunisia. Over 400 ghorfas (storage cells) on 4-5 levels, two distinct courtyards. Served as a set for Mos Espa slave quarters in Episode I (August 1997). Ksar Ghilane oasis – Night under a tent in a desert camp. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the hot spring. Walk on fine golden (ochre) sand. Optional: quad bike or camel ride (extra cost). Witness the magnificent sunset over the dunes. See the preparation of sand bread (traditional bread cooked on embers). After dinner, enjoy an animated evening around a campfire (if enough people). Peaceful night in your tent. Accommodation: Night under a tent in a desert camp
Day 3 – Matmata: Sidi Driss Hotel & Troglodyte Village After breakfast, head to the troglodyte village of Matmata. Sidi Driss hotel – Comprises 5 interior courtyards. Four are surrounded by rooms; the fifth, named the "Star Wars courtyard" , serves as the restaurant. This courtyard served as the set for the Lars' dining room and kitchen , as well as the courtyard. Note: The dining room's ceiling fresco was destroyed after Episode IV and had to be redone for Episode II – it remains unchanged today. Visit a Berber family in their underground dwelling. Enjoy a good rosemary tea with them. (Don't forget to leave a small tip before leaving.) Head back to Djerba with a photo stop at the Berber village of Toujane.
