About this tour
The Golden Eagle Festival, held every year in Bayan-Ölgii province, is a beautiful celebration of Mongolia's ancient eagle hunting tradition. Kazakh hunters, dressed in their colorful traditional clothing, proudly show how they’ve trained their golden eagles to catch foxes and hares. Set against the stunning Altai Mountains, the event features exciting competitions where the eagles are judged on their speed and skill. Visitors can enjoy Kazakh music, dance, horse racing, and, of course, the incredible sight of these majestic eagles soaring through the sky. It’s a heartwarming experience filled with culture, nature, and adventure.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to Ovorkhangai, Mongolia
Morning: Depart from Ulaanbaatar. Lunch: Stop at a local restaurant along the way for traditional Mongolian cuisine. Afternoon: Arrive in Uvurkhangai Province and check into your hotel. Evening: Free time to explore the area and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2: Ovorkhangai, Mongolia to Govi-Altai, Mongolia
Morning:Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Gobi Altai Province. Lunch:Enjoy a meal at a local restaurant en route. Evening: Arrive in Gobi Altai Province. Visit local attractions if time permits.Check into your hotel and dine at a local restaurant.
Day 3: Khovd, Mongolia to Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Bayan-Ulgii Province. Lunch: Stop at a local restaurant along the way. Afternoon: Arrive in Bayan-Ulgii and check into your hotel. Evening: Attend local cultural events and have dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Day 4: Golden Eagle Festival, Ölgii, Mongolia
Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Head to the festival grounds. All Day: Participate in the Golden Eagle Festival activities, including eagle hunting demonstrations and traditional competitions. Lunch: Enjoy local food at temporary ger-restaurants at the festival. Evening: Return to the hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 5: Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia
Golden Eagle Festival. Day 1 Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Return to the festival. All Day: Continue enjoying the festival, with more eagle competitions and cultural performances. Lunch: Sample local dishes at the festival. Evening: After the festival, relax and have dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 6: Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia to Govi-Altai, Mongolia

Day 8: Arvaikheer, Mongolia to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
