Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Farab, Turkmenistan to Mary, Turkmenistan
Day 1 Farap border - Mary AM meet at the border. Have a lunch in Türkmenabat. Drive to Merv. Arrive. Dinner. Overnight (Margush hotel)
Day 2: Mary, Turkmenistan to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
Full day sightseeing in Mary town and Merv History Park (UNESCO sites) Merv and Mary Visit centre of the city, including Juma mosque, and Russian Orthodox church. Afternoon excursion to Merv, an ancient city that was a major center of international trade and crafts located on the Silk Road. Discover historical park with Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum, Large and Small Gyz Gala, Erk Gala, Gyaur Gala, Keshk Fortress and others. Later driving to Ashgabat. Transfer to the hotel upon arrival. Overnight at the hotel (Bagt koshgi)
Day 3: Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
Start guided sightseeing tour in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan that has recently been noted by the Guinness Book of World Records as having more white marble buildings than any other city in the world. During the city tour you will explore an archaeological site of Old Nisa (included in UNESCO World Heritage list) and Türkmenbashy Spiritual Mosque, one of the biggest mosques in Central Asia. You will visit the National Museum of History, the Monument of Neutrality, and newly built Independence Park. Intense and interesting excursion also includes a stopover at the Akhalteke horse stables. Dinner and Night Ashgabat view. Overnight at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel (Bagt koshgi)
Day 4: Ashgabat, Turkmenistan to Darvaza Gas Crater - "Door to Hell", Derweze, Turkmenistan
Day 4 Ashgabat - Darwaza, 255 km At 11:00 visiting for bazaar ( russian Bazar) 13:00 Start driving to Darwaza. Stop at Mud & Water gas craters. Arrive at the Fiery Gas Crater. Sightseeing at the site. Camp in the area. Overnight in a yurt Included meal: dinner
Day 5: Darvaza Gas Crater - "Door to Hell", Derweze, Turkmenistan to Köneürgench, Turkmenistan
Day 5 Darwaza - Kunya Urgench - border In the morning after breakfast, depart to Kunya urgench and visit historical site: mausoleums of Tyurabek-Khanum, Sultan Tekesh, Sultan Il Arslan, and the Kutlug-Timur Minaret. Have lunch and drive to Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan border point. Go through border formalities on both checkpoints. Cross the 1.5 km neutral zone at 15:00-17:00.
