Jeep Tour To Assy Plateau And Charyn Canyon In Almaty

The first day of our tour starts with a visit to the ancient Issyk burial mounds, where the world famous

"Golden Man" was directly discovered. Also we will visit the State Historical and Cultural Museum-

Reserve, where you will learn many interesting things about the history of our region from the first

sources.

Further our path lies through the beautiful Turgen gorge, where we will do light hiking to the famous

"Bear Waterfall", the name of which tells that this area is a habitat for endangered wild animals such as

the Tien Shan brown bear, morality, argali and, of course, snow leopard. You will also see and learn a lot

about Chinturgen moss spruce forests. They are the only ones in Tien Shan declared as a natural

monument.

After Turgen gorge, we find ourselves on the high-mountainous plateau of Assy. This plateau exists for

over the millions of years and hosted both the ancient people of the Bronze Age (we will see evidence of

this - rock paintings), and world famous travelers such as Peter Semenov-Tyanshansky and Chokan

Valikhanov. In contrast to antiquity, at the very beginning of the plateau there is a functioning

astrophysical observatory, with the structure and purpose of which we will acquaint you. Continuing

along the plateau, we will get acquainted with the peculiarities of the life and life of nomadic Kazakhs,

because the Assy plateau has been a place of summer grazing for thousands of years, as well as one of

the directions of the Great Silk Road.

Descending from the plateau, we will find ourselves in the amazing "Red Rocks", where, having protected

ourselves from the mountain wind, we will spend the night. On the second day we continue our descent

along the gorge, which will lead us to the Bortagol reservoir, which blocked the channel of the Chilik

River, where the Big Almaty Channel originates.
