SUV-trip in East Kazakhstan with 5 major locations: Katon-Karagay, The Burkhat pass, Rahman hot springs, Berel burial mounds. Difficulty level: easy. Duration: from Friday evening to Sunday evening.
We meet and get acquainted with the group and the guide in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Then drive 350 km through Osinovskiy pass and the city of Altay. In the evening we stop for dinner and overnight in the village of Katon.
We visit a panto-treatment centre to feed marals, then stop at the market where you can buy unique and tasty local products. After that we travel along the breathtaking serpentines laid out in 1914-1916. On the pass we enjoy the panorama of the valley on the observation deck at an altitude of 2100 meters. At Rahmans we will take a boat trip to a waterfall, hike through the forest, and swim in hot springs.
We will look at the complex of ancient tombs with a visit to the museum and reconstructed mounds of the Scythian-Saxon culture. In the Valley of the Kings about 100 burials from the Early Iron Age have been discovered. Gold-decorated outfits, household items and horse harnesses have been found here. Today, archaeological excavations are being conducted here and a museum is being created. The ethno park recreates ailas - traditional dwellings of the Altai people, similar to yurts, but authentic in their own way.
