Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Almaty, Kazakhstan to Turkistan, Kazakhstan
16:35 Departure from Almaty to Turkestan (Almaty-2 Railway Station). Overnight on the train.
Day 2: Turkistan, Kazakhstan to Samarkand, Uzbekistan
7:00 Breakfast in the dining car. 8:30 Arrival in Turkestan — the historical and spiritual center of Southern Kazakhstan. 9:30 Guided tour in Turkestan: - Excursion to the Mausoleum of Arystan Baba and the ruins of the ancient city of Otrar — one of the key cities on the Great Silk Road. - Lunch at a restaurant. - Visit to the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi — a majestic architectural monument listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. - Walk around the Karavan Saray and water show "Kyz Zhibek and Tulegen." 20:20 Transfer: Return to the train. 21:00 Departure from Turkestan to Samarkand. Overnight on the train.
Day 3: Samarkand, Uzbekistan
7:00 Breakfast in the dining car. 9:10 Arrival in Samarkand — one of the oldest and most famous cities in the world, located in Uzbekistan. 10:00 Guided tour in Samarkand: - Excursion to the Gur-Emir Complex (Mausoleum of Tamerlane) — an architectural gem of Samarkand - Excursion to Registan Square, home to the grand Sher-Dor, Tillya-Kori, and Ulugh Beg madrasahs. - Festive lunch with traditional dishes (Uzbek pilaf). - Visit to Ulugh Beg Observatory — an important monument of medieval science. - Walk around the Bibi-Khanym Complex and a visit to the largest Siab Bazaar in Central Asia. 18:00 Free time. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Samarkand.
Day 4: Samarkand, Uzbekistan to Tashkent, Uzbekistan
6:00 Breakfast at the hotel. 7:15 Departure from the hotel. Transfer to the train station. 8:00 Departure from Samarkand to Tashkent. 12:55 Arrival in Tashkent — the cultural and economic center of Uzbekistan, blending ancient architecture with modern infrastructure. 13:30 Guided tour in Tashkent: - Lunch at a restaurant. - Visit to the Khast-Imam Complex, home to several ancient Islamic cultural monuments. - Walk around Chorsu Bazaar and Mustaqillik Square, a symbol of Uzbekistan's independence. - Visit to Magic City — the largest year-round amusement park in Asia. 21:15 Transfer: Return to the train. 22:00 Departure from Tashkent. Overnight on the train.
Day 5: Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Alma Ata 2, Almaty, Kazakhstan
8:00 – 10:00 Breakfast in the dining car. 17:00 Arrival back in Almaty — end of the journey (Almaty-2 Railway Station).
