About this tour

This route allows you to hike from the city to a mountain plateau at an altitude of 3,000 m in one day. We will pass through a forest zone and find ourselves in a high-mountain zone of glaciers and snowy peaks. On the way we will meet the Tuyuksu climbing camp, a memorial to those who died in the mountains. And from the dam we will see the entire circus of peaks of the Little Almaty Gorge.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Almaty, Kazakhstan

From the hotel we will go to the Medeo ice skating rink, and then to the Shymbulak ski resort. Our route will start from here. We will follow a dirt road along the gorge until we reach the dam (about 3 hours). For lovers of long routes, the trek can be continued to the moraine lake Manshuk Mametova (3635 m) or the glaciological station and Tuyuksu glacier (3400 m).
