Nature Reserves Furugelm And Falshivyi Island

One of the most popular summer tours! Furugel`ma island has an amazing bird colony which includes many species. Here you can see Bering and Ussur cormorants, slaty-backed and black-tailed gulls, Atlantic murre and horn-billed puffin, common heron and great cormorant. The island vegetation is unique and perfectly shows the adaptation to sea conditions. Cliffs under water are covered with mussels, actinia, starfish, sea-urchins, and lots of other sea creatures.

On island there is an army battery which was the only one in Primorsky region participating in World War II.

Near the Fal`shivyi (Fake) island there is the longest sandy seashore in Russia. Multi-kilometer seashore goes to the fountainhead of Tumen river – the place where 3 country borders (Russia, China and North Korea) converge. On this island there are hundreds of snakes spending their winter on Golubinyi hill – the only place where the snakes are protected.
