Everest Base Camp Trek also offers an opportunity to experience rich Sherpa culture in the foothills of Himalayas of Nepal en route to Base Camp. Trekkers can absorb the rich culture as they pass, such as prayer wheels in many colors, centuries old monasteries and of course the renowned Sherpa hospitality. Sumptuous mountain views are everywhere throughout the trek as the whole trail always is close to one of the mountains. High suspension bridges, steep climbs through pine and rhododendron forests, herds of Dzos (cross between a yak and a cow) and Yaks carrying loads and cheerful sherpa kids in the villages makes sure that there is never a dull day on the trek. Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu, Nepal
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. On arrival in Kathmandu international airport received with warm welcome by our Visit Himalaya guides and staff, and then transfer you to respective hotels around hub of Kathmandu. Here in the hotel our guide brief with information of your wonderful journey to Everest Base Camp trekking. with hotel, Kathmandu and welcome dinner in a nice typical Nepali restaurant with culture program.
Day 2: Kathmandu, Nepal
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing and trip preparation. Morning sightseeing tour around Kathmandu you will be engrossed at places of interest on this day for 6-8 hours of enjoyable and impressive tour visiting world heritage sites of temples-monasteries-Stupas with old royal palace courtyard.
Day 3: Phakding, Nepal
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 03 hrs. Morning flight to Lukla with mountain views including Everest, on reaching Lukla with time for rest, then start first day trekking to Phakding village. Walk leads past farm villages with few short ups and down, beautiful views along the walk to Phakding for overnight stop.
Day 4: Namche Bazar, Namche, Nepal
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs. After overnight at Phakding, morning trek leads over Dudh Kosi River and then past interesting villages of Toc-Toc, Bhenkar and Monjo to reach at Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate. From here walk on riverbanks for few hours, on crossing last bridge with climb to famous Namche Bazaar where you can explore this small town with facilities of nice restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.
Day 5: Hotel Everest View, Khumjung, Nepal
Day 05: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion. A right place for rest and acclimatization day before trek to higher country, here take a short hike to Everest View Hotel or walk to Namche view point above at Sagarmatha National Park museum for super views of Everest, Amadablam and adjoining peaks, and visit of museum.
Day 6: Tyangboche, Khumjung, Nepal
Day 06: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867m - 05 hrs. From Namche walk is fairly easy for first half, after a short descend towards Shanasa with more down-hill with magnificent view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thermasharkhu and Kwangde-ri peaks, after a pleasant walk of 3 hours reaching at Phungitenga, a small place with couple of teahouses and Nepal Army barrack serving as park wardens located in the midst of alpine woods of mostly silver fir blue pines, rhododendron and some few magnolia and birch trees. From here 2 hours of strenuous climb on the winding trail in the shade of lovely forest till Thyangboche Monastery is reached for overnight stop. This beautiful spot offers views of the majestic beautiful peak Ama Dablam with Everest above Nuptse and Mt. Lhotse towards north east.
Day 7: Dingboche, Nepal
Day 07: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05hrs. Morning walk leads downhill for an hour and then cross over Imjatse River, after the bridge entering open exposed area where tree lines disappear for short juniper and rhododendron bushes. Trek uphill to Pangboche village at 3,900 meters. Pangboche last permanent village to Dingboche and beyond, from here a short climb to Somara for lunch and continue with climb to Dingboche village for overnight stop, located in beautiful Imjatse valley with panorama of mountains.
Day 8: Nangkartshang Peak, Khumjung, Nepal
Day 08: Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization and short hike. Another rest day for good acclimatization, a short hike to Nakarjung hills offers views of Mt. Makalu and other adjoining mountains.
Day 9: Lobuche, Khumjung, Nepal
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m - 05 hrs. After rest at Dingboche morning walk continues with steep climb for an hour with excellent views of the valley and mountains, and slowly walking on gentle path leading at Thugla for lunch, where Khumbu glacier melts turning into a torrential river. Here trail from Pheriche joins, after rest and lunch a steep climb for an hour to Thugla ridge top, where you can see many stone memorials of unfortunate climbers who died climbing Mt. Everest, Lhotse and other high mountains. From here an hour of nice pleasant walk to Lobuche for overnight stop.
Day 10: Everest Base Camp, Khumjung, Nepal
Day 10: Trek to Gorak Shep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp 5,364 m and return to Gorakshep - 06 hrs. Today our final adventure leads to Everest Base Camp, starting with moderate walk for few hour and then climb over glacier and moraine to Gorakshep located at the bottom of Mt. Pumori and Kalapathar hill and view point. From here walk to Everest Base Camp following the path close to Khumbu glacier all the way to base camp. On reaching base camp marvel the views of Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers. After enjoying views of ice falls and mountains, completing our aim and dreams, walk back to Gorakshep for overnight stop.
Day 11: Kala Patthar, Khumjung, Nepal
Day 11: Hike to Kalapathar 5,545 m trek to Pheriche 4,240m - 05 hrs. Morning climb on top to Kalapathar at 5,545 meters, highest point of this trip with panorama of mountains and views of Mt. Everest at close distance. After a great time descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue trek to Thugla with downhill to Pheriche for overnight stop.
Day 12: Pheriche, खुम्जुंग, Nepal
Day 12: Trek to Thyangboche - 05 hrs. Return journey an easy walk dropping heights every few hours with downhill with few short ups to Pangboche and then after the bridge two hours climb to Thyangboche for overnight stop.
Day 13: Manjo, Khumjung, Nepal
Day 13: Trek to Monjo 2,835m - 06 hrs. Retrace the journey back to Shanasha, from Shanasha where the trail from Khumjung, Gokyo and to Namche meets. From here the route follows on the main busy path, the walk winds all the way to Namche Bazaar on the downhill and gradual path. On reaching Namche Bazaar retrace the journey all the way to Monjo for the overnight camp at Monjo, located just near Sagarmatha National Park entrance.
Day 14: Lukla, Chaurikharka, Nepal
Day 14: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs walk. Last day of this great trek leads to enjoyable walk through green scenery surrounding with few short uphill the only long climb will be just before Lukla of about 45 minutes. On reaching Lukla celebrate last night dinner with fellow Sherpa crew, porters and trekking members.
Day 15: Kathmandu, Nepal
Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu with afternoon free at leisure. The flight time to Kathmandu, takes early morning normally because of the afternoon winds and clouds, sometime the flight time can be delayed due to bad weather and other reason. Depending upon the flight time this scenic flight from Lukla takes about 35 minutes to land in Kathmandu with super view of snowcapped peaks during the flight. At Kathmandu domestic terminal, our staffs receives and transfer you back to your hotel.
Day 16: Kathmandu, Nepal
Day 16: In Kathmandu free / spare day for individual activities. Visit Himalaya reserves this day as free or contingency day, in case of flight delay and cancellation in Lukla, which can occur sometimes due to bad weather conditions and beyond our control. Himalayan weather pattern can be unpredictable even in right season for trekking. If all goes well as per the itinerary a free day for individual activities or take an optional tour around Kathmandu at places of interest.
Day 17: Kathmandu, Nepal
Day 17: International departure for home ward bound. Your last day in amazing country Nepal with full of Himalayan wonders and fascinating cultures, after an enjoyable and memorable trip Everest Base Camp trekking with Visit Himalaya great services, our guide and staff transfers you to airport for you final departure flight back home or to next respective countries.
