About this tour
14 days 2000 km offroad trip across GBAO and Pamir:
Dushanbe - Qalai-Khum - Bartang valley - Khorog - Langar - Jarty-Gumbez - Murgab - Karakul - Sary-Mogol - Osh
During that trip we'll visit the most scenic, remote and lone places of Pamir and GBAO region: hidden valleys near Afghan and Chinese border, snow mountain peaks and lakes, hot springs, magnificent Wakhan valley with Hindukush range panorama, sand dunes and stony deserted plateau of Eastern Pamir, ruins of ancient Wakhan fortresses and remote villages of upper Bartang gorge, cozy hospitable Khorog city, capital of Gorny Badakhshan.
Special arrangements and permits to Afghan and Chinese border zone and natural reserve allows visiting unique areas, which usually missed by travelers: upper Oxus river, Zorkul lake, valleys of Sarykol and Wakhan range.
Logistics: About 2000 km driving, 1300 km of them driving on stony, sandy, gravel, and sometimes poor paved roads in GBAO (Gornyi Badakhshan region). Daily hiking 4-6 hours (optional);

- Food: 3 meals daily
- Medical supplies: all basic medicaments for first aid and simple treatment
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Dushanbe, Tajikistan to Kalaikhum, Tajikistan
Start of the trip. Driving across Kulob city and then along Panj valley to Kalaikhum, where we stay overnight.
Day 2: Kalaikhum, Tajikistan to Basid, Tajikistan
Driving along the Panj river, which divides Tajikistan and Afganistan, then we enter Bartang valley.
Day 3: Basid, Tajikistan
Trekking in Bartang valley.
Day 4: Basid, Tajikistan to Khorog, Tajikistan
We quit remote but hospitable Bartang valley and drive back to Panj valley and then continue driving to Khorog - the capital of Gorny Badakhshan.
Day 5: Khorog, Tajikistan to Darshai, Tajikistan
Driving along Panj river to Darshai village.
Day 6: Darshai, Tajikistan to Langar - Лангар, Tajikistan
Today we enter the famous Wakhan corridor. Before reaching Langar village, we visit Bibi Fatima hot springs.
Day 7: Langar - Лангар, Tajikistan to Engels Peak, Tajikistan
Trekking to Engels peak meadow. Back to Langar.
Day 8: Langar - Лангар, Tajikistan to Alichur, Tajikistan
Driving up Pamir river valley we reaching the Khargush checkpoint. After visiting Yashilkul lake we arrive at Alichur village.
Day 9: Alichur, Tajikistan to Zorkul Nature Reserve, Tajikistan
Early morning we start towards remote Zorkul reserve where we explore its hidden valleys and lakes.
Day 10: Zorkul Nature Reserve, Tajikistan to Murghab, Tajikistan
Driving by deserted roads towards Murgab, the main settlement of Eastern Pamir.
Day 11: Murghab, Tajikistan to Karakul Lake, Tajikistan
Driving by the main Pamir highway. After crossing the highest Akbaitall pass, 4655m, we arrive at the scenic Karakul lake - the biggest one in Pamir.
Day 12: Karakul Lake, Tajikistan to Sary Mogul, Kyrgyzstan
After crossing the Tadjik-Kyrgyz border we arrive at wide Alai valley, surrounded by snow peaks of the Zaalai range.
Day 13: Sary Mogul, Kyrgyzstan to Tulpar kul, Sary Mogul, Kyrgyzstan
Full day trekking to Lenin peak base camp.
Day 14: Sary Mogul, Kyrgyzstan to Osh, Kyrgyzstan
Before reaching Osh, we driving along green valleys, crossing a few highway passes. End of the trip.
