Pink Lake And Skythian Burial

Day 1: Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan

Kobeituz lake is situated in about 182 km. from Astana to the East (South East). It is salty, extremely salty, deadly salty, literally. Compared to a sea or ocean, where concentration of salt is 3%, here it is so much higher that salt crystallizes even at high temperature, the solution is over-saturated. You may literally walk upon the lake, like in the Byble. Of course, no organism can survive in such water except tiny weed, which contains pink colour to the water. The lake is really pink!!! This effect doesn't happen every year and depends on certain combination of weather conditions. This year we are lucky to see it pink. In some spots there are clay or mud deposits, which are very helpful agains skin diseases, so many people bath in such spots. Some people take this water home by bottles. Anyway, the view is unique. On the way we can additionally visit skythian burial of pre-islam times. It is also very interesting subjuct of Central Asia history.
