Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Osh, Kyrgyzstan to Alai Range, Kyrgyzstan
Day 1: Trek to Sary Oi yurt camp over Kumbell Pass at 3154 m Trekking time: 5 hours, Trekking distance: 15 km, Max Elevation: 3140 m, Min Elevation: 2283 m, Total Gain/Loss: 857m+ / 895m-, Accomodation: yurtstay Departure from Osh city and drive on Pamir Highway to the Chyyirchyck Pass, 1 hour. Start trekking up to the Kum Bell pass 3154 meter, 2 hours. See shepherds busy with making bread and milking mares on the way. Have lunch at the top of the pass. Enjoy the stunning beauty of rocky Alay Mountains. Walk down the pass across evergreens, 3 hours. Arrive at locals’ camp and have a hot tea in a yurt. Taste national dishes in an authentic yurt. Overnight in yurt camp.
Day 2: Sary Oi Yurt camp to Murdash valley
Day 2: Hike to the foot of Ak Tor Pass Trekking time: 5 hours, Trekking distance: 13 km, Max Elevation: 2912 m, Min Elevation: 2204 m, Total Gain/Loss: 856m + / 227 m-, Accomodation: yurtstay Morning life seems to be busy with milking cows and making creams. After breakfast follow the trail along the gushing river running in a gorge with green meadows and junipers. Break a lunch near shepherd’s tent with amazing view of craggy mountains behind. Continue your trip towards the foot of Aktor pass at 3557m. Home cooked dinner and night in a yurt.
Day 3: Sary oi to Ak Tor pass
Day 3: Trek to Murdash Valley over scenic Ak Tor Pass Trekking time: 6 hours, Trekking distance: 12,5 km, Max Elevation: 3557m, Min Elevation: 2385m, Total Gain/Loss: 658m+ / 1183m-, Accomodation: yurtstay Breakfast. Cross the river and hike towards the foot of the pass to the south. A trail climbs southeast between craggy mountain walls to the summit Ak Tor Pass standing at 3500 meters. While hiking up, enjoy the views of stunning towering peaks and alpine pastures. Break for snack on top of the pass. While descending the pass, enjoy soaring panoramas of the sharp rock walls of the Murdash Valley. Then walk down along the stream to the unpaved road, 3 hr. Trek ends at this unpaved road and drive 16 km to get to the main highway leading to Osh city, 2 hr. Arrival in Osh city.
