Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Astana, Kazakhstan to Ortau, Kazakhstan
Start from Astana. The daily mileage is 470 kilometers. Departure at 8:00 in Astana, we will reach the Nura river abandoned waterworks, then to the village of Zhanaarka (Atasu). After we have already left the paved road and two days on the steppe, we will visit the remains of the Military Fortification of Artau built in 1836, filming with a drone, the view from above is amazing! We will have a snack and move along the old steppe roads to the Ortau mountain range, visit the mysterious natural location "Seven wells", and spend the night in a tent camp there. Rest. Dinner.
Day 2: Ortau, Kazakhstan to Moyynty, Kazakhstan
The daily mileage 270 kilometers. Breakfast and departure at 8:00 from the Ortau mountains to Kyzyltau. After that, abandoned objects and settlements such as Shazhagai will be on the way. Let's take a look at the Sadvakas mountains, where the largest piece of the Shunak meteorite supposedly fell. You will see the remains of a large crater with your own eyes! After along the Sarybulak river we will reach the keeper of the mausoleum of Agybai Batyr, Hamit, we will arrange lunch in his yurt. After lunch we will go to see the ancient petroglyphs of Tayatkhan! Let's take a ride from the sacred mountain Tayatkhan, where ancient people rode. And later in the evening we will reach the registered meteorite crater "Shunak". In which we will arrange a tent rest and overnight in a meteorite crater!
Day 3: Moyynty, Kazakhstan to Lake Balkhash, Kazakhstan
Daily mileage 320 kilometers. Breakfast and departure from the meteorite crater Shunak at 9:00. We will visit the unexplored and unregistered small craters of the meteorite Shunak. After them, we will pave the way to the Astana-Almaty highway, we will see Lake Balkhash, where we will spend the night in a hotel.
Day 4: Balkhash, Kazakhstan to Astana, Kazakhstan
The day mileage 600 kilometers. Breakfast and departure at 8:00 from Balkhash, we will quickly and briefly come in to the Bektau Ata mountains. After which we will go to Karaganda and to the finish line in Astana.
