Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Dushanbe International Airport, Dushanbe, Tajikistan to Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Day 1: Dushanbe Our guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. The entire day is dedicated to a guided city tour. First of we will visit Rudaki Park, National library, White House, National state seal, House of parliament and etc. After it we will walk in National park to take photos of Ministry of Inner Affairs and the second biggest National Flag in the world – 165 m high pole, 30 m wide, 60 m long. After excursion in Central Museum, you will have lunch. To feel real life you should visit Asian Bazar. It has colourful goods, fruits and vegetables. We will see today the main highlights of Dushanbe and you will find out many interesting facts about Tajik people. Dinner will be in a traditional restaurant where you try Tajik food. The night is in a hotel.
Day 2: Dushanbe, Tajikistan to Iskanderkul, Tajikistan
Day 2: Dushanbe – Iskandarkul Lake Our trip today is to high Mountain lake – Iskanderkul (2 255 m. a. s. l.). It is situated in the famous Fann Mountains. This fabulous area is one of the best places in Central Asia. The road to the lakes goes over Anzob pass (3 372 m) with amazing panorama views. After arrival at the lake, you will go for a walk along it beaches. This is an amazing place to have a rest. Also, we will hike 40 minutes to see a waterfall. Tajikistan takes the second place among the CIS countries for volume of water resources: it has the highest water reserves of all Central Asian countries with more than 1 000 rivers, 2 000 lakes and 8000 glaciers. The night is in a guesthouse.
Day 3: Iskanderkul, Tajikistan to Seven Lakes, Tajikistan
Day 3: Iskandarkul Lake – Seven Lakes We will drive today to the Fan Mountains. They are one of Central Asia's most popular hiking areas. You will do a day trip from Iskandarkul Lake to the Seven Lakes (Marquzor Lakes), about 60 km south of Panjakent. At this place, you will have time to go for short hiking. Their road goes along a gorge where 7 lakes are located. They are situated in different altitudes and have different colours. Also, you will meet local people that live in that area. It will be very interesting to see their way of life. After hiking we will have a night in a homestay.
Day 4: Seven Lakes, Tajikistan to Panjakent, Tajikistan
Day 4: Seven Lakes – Panjakent In the morning we will drive to Panjakent. The city of Panjakent ("five villages") is located in Khujand area of Tajikistan in a picturesque Zeravshan river valley. Quite possibly the five villages started the history of this remarkable city which originated in the 5th-8th centuries AD. Panjikent of that time was one of the most important cultural and crafts centres of Sogd. It was even named "Central Asian Pompeii". In the Panjakent you will visit the Museum and the ruins of Old Panjakent and the local Bazar as well. Today you will have a special meal for dinner – the famous traditional plov of Panjakent. Day 5: Panjakent, Tajikistan to Khujand, Tajikistan
Day 5: Panjakent – Istravshan – Khujand Today you will drive to Khujand via pass Shahriston (3 378 m). On the way to Khujand, you will visit Istravshan an ancient centre of trade and craft as well as one of the ancient cities in Central Asia. It is really a museum city with its history dating back to II-VI cc BC. In Persian literature the city was known as Kurukuda, In Sogdian ancient notes as Kurushkuda while modern scholars identify it with Cyruspol or Cyrus Eskhata founded in VI century BC by Cyrus the Great. We will visit Mugtepa, the fifteenth century Kuk Gumbaz Mosque and local bazaar. You will find yourselves in the atmosphere of colourful oriental bazaars, visit majestic fortresses, and enjoy the special architecture of mosques and mausoleums. Then you continue to drive to Khujand. The night is in a hotel.
Day 6: Khujand, Tajikistan
Day 6: Khujand city tour The entire day is dedicated to city tour. In the morning you will go to visit the Museum of Archeology and Fortification. After that, you will go to visit the Mosque of Shaikh Muslihiddin. In front of the Mosque there located one of the biggest and oldest bazaars of Tajikistan – “Panjshanbe Bazar”. After lunch, you will drive to see the Qairoqum water reservoir wich calls “Tajik Sea”. The Hydro Power station of Qairoqum is the symbol of People`s Friendship built-in 1968. After that, you will drive to your hotel. Dinner is in the restaurant. The night is in a hotel.
Day 7: Khujand, Tajikistan to Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Day 7: Khujand – Dushanbe In the morning is drive to Dushanbe via Shahriston and Anzob pass and tunnel of Isticlol. The road will go over mountain passes and you will have many photo stops. Dushanbe is the capital and largest city of Tajikistan. Dushanbe means "Monday" in the Tajik language, and the name reflects the fact that the city grew on the site of a village that originally was a popular Monday market place. As of 2012, Dushanbe has a population of 1 000 000 people. The night is in a hotel.
Day 8: Dushanbe, Tajikistan to Dushanbe International Airport, Dushanbe, Tajikistan
In the morning transfers to the Airport.
