Kyrgyzstan is not only a country of the mountains but also of horses. According to an ancient proverb "horses are the wings of the Kyrgyz". It takes a significant part in the nomadic culture. This trip will be ideal for horse lovers. Enjoy the wild and untouched nature and learn about the lifestyle of the Kyrgyz nomads while riding the beautiful Kyrgyz horses.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Бишкек, Киргизия
Arrival to Manas Airport in Bishkek where our team will pick up you and drive you to hotel situated in the capital. You can have a rest in cozy and comfortable rooms after the flight. After breakfast in hotel, we start our city tour. We will visit the heart of the city, Ala-Too Square where the State Historical Museum is located. After the tour in the museum, we can enjoy a walk in the Oak Park, one of the favorite places of local people. Bishkek is known as the greenest city in Central Asia thanks to its countless parks and alleys making the city a great place to live. After lunch, we will have time to visit the local market Osh bazar. Here you can appreciate the creativity and talent of local artisans. Just as you step the market, you plunge into the real oriental atmosphere: an interminable stream of people, a big variety of goods and colors. In the evening, we go to one of the best restaurants in Bishkek where you can taste delicious Kyrgyz national dishes. Accommodation : Hotel 3* (My Hotel 3* / Rixon Hotel or similar)
Day 2: Бишкек, Киргизия to Чон-Кемин, Киргизия
Breakfast in the hotel. Our journey begin with a visit to the historical monument Burana Tower located about 80 km from the capital. Burana Tower is an ancient minaret in the Chuy Valley in the north part of Kyrgyzstan. It is close to the city of Tokmok. The tower with funerary monuments, earthworks, remains of the castle and three mausoleums – that’s all what last out of the ancient Balasagyn town that was founded by Karakhanids at the end of the ninth century. We have lunch on the road café or in the guesthouse. After we keep our way towards Chon Kemin gorge. It is unique place thanks to its unbelievable beauty and its rich diversity of fauna and flora. You will have the opportunity to hike in the gorge and enjoy the beautiful alpine views. Dinner and overnight in the guesthouse. Day 3: Чон-Кемин, Киргизия to Калмак-Ашуу, Киргизия
After breakfast in the guest house you start the horse trek with the local English horse guide. We head towards the pastures of Akkytay, around noon we will climb to the point where we will have a panoramic view of the entire valley. We have a picnic there. Horses can rest too. After lunch we continue our trek. We go to the Kalmak Ashuu pass. We install the tents in the evening. Dinner around the fire and rest. Horse riding: 6 hours Accommodation : Tent
Day 4: Калмак-Ашуу, Киргизия to Тамчи, Киргизия
Breakfast in the camp. Then we take our horses and we go down towards Issyk Kul Lake. Picnic on the road. At around 15 hours we reach the point where our trek ends. We are already in the region of Issyk Kul. Your driver picks you up. Your horse guide returns with his horses to Chon Kemin. And you go to the guest house where you rest and take a shower. You can swim in the lake later and rest a bit on the beach. Horse riding: 6 hours Accommodation : Guesthouse (Tamchy Guesthouse or similar)
Day 5: Тамчи, Киргизия to Кочкор, Киргизия
After the breakfast in the guesthouse we go towards Kochkor village. On the way we will go to Kyzyl Tuu village where the local family reveals the secrets of producing yurts. This family is engaged in this unique art from generation to generation. Lunch in the guesthouse or in the local restaurant. Déjeuner a Kochkor dans la maison d’hôte ou restaurant. Free time before dinner. You can stroll around the village by visiting the local market. Diner and overnight in the guesthouse. Accommodation : Guesthouse (Mira Guesthouse or similar)
Day 6: Кочкор, Киргизия to Кёльукёк, Киргизия
Breakfast in the guesthouse. Transfer by car from Kochkor to the starting point (15 minutes). From here you start the horse trek to the Ters Tor pastures, famous for their pure air and crystalline waters. Picnic lunch on the way. Arrival in the yurt of the shepherds at Kol Ukok. You can walk and take beautiful pictures of the lake and mountains that surround it. Diner and overnight in the yurt. Horse riding : 5 h Accommodation : Yurt camp Note : yurt capacity 6 people. But during the low season you can be accommodated 2 pax per yurt according to the availability. No shower in the camp.
Day 7: Кёльукёк, Киргизия to Кызарт, Киргизия
After the breakfast in yurt we return on horseback by the same path on the starting point of our trek where our driver is waiting for us. Lunch in the cafe in Kochkor. Transfer to Kyzart village by car (1 heure). Diner et rest in the guesthouse. Horse riding : 4 h Accommodation : Guesthouse (Maksat Guesthouse or similar)
Day 8: Кызарт, Киргизия to Ozero Sonkel', Киргизия
Day 8. Kyzart - Kilemche (horseback riding) Today we keep our road to Son Kul Lake. In the morning, we go to the starting point by car where horses and the rider-guide await us. We will ride down through the Kilemche valley. The valley’s name means in Kyrgyz language "like a carpet", and this carpet is presented by the variety of mountain herbs and alpine flowers covering all the nearby slopes. We will have a dinner with the nomads and sleep in the yurts. Horse riding : 5 h Accommodation : Yurt camp Note : yurt capacity 6 people. But during the low season you can be accommodated 2 pax per yurt according to the availability. No shower in the camp.
Day 9: Ozero Sonkel', Киргизия
After breakfast we continue our trek. Horseback ride provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beauty of these places and feel a part of the nature. Today, we cross another pass (3 400m). From the pass, Son Kul Lake seems very small, but as we go down and approach the lake, it appears as a big and gorgeous lake. When we arrive in the yurts camp, you get to know the hospitality of the nomads, their lifestyle and their customs. Day 10: Ozero Sonkel', Киргизия
We continue our horseback trek and today we ride horses along the Son Kul lakeshore. Breakfast, lunch, dinner in the yurt camp. Accommodation: Yurt camp Optionally : national horse games demonstration Note : yurt capacity 6 people. But during the low season you can be accommodated 2 pax per yurt according to the availability. No shower in the camp.
Day 11: Ozero Sonkel', Киргизия to Бишкек, Киргизия
After breakfast in the yurt we come back to the capital. The road to Bishkek passes through Boom gorge. You can take pictures of this beauty and breathtaking sceneries. After lunch in local restaurant, we will have time to visit the local markets and buy some presents. You will not leave the bazar unsatisfied; you will surely find something that you were looking for reminding you about Kyrgyzstan and your unforgettable trip here. In the evening, we will have the farewell dinner at traditional Kyrgyz restaurant. Accommodation: Hotel 3* (My Hotel / Rixon Hotel or similar)
Day 12: Бишкек, Киргизия to Манас, Киргизия
Transfer to airport. Departure.
