Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Fergana Region, Uzbekistan

DAY 01 : TASHKENT - KOKAND – RISHTON – MARGILAN - FERGANA This morning depart early (06 or 07 AM) to drive to the Ferghana Valley. Travel by car(or by train) through the mountainous Kamchik pass. A stop will be made in the ancient city of Kokand, the historical centre of the Khanate of Kokand to see the Khudoyar-Khan Palace & Museum. Some of buildings and all the gardens have recently been restored. It has some wonderful wood carving and is covered with intricate engraved patterns. There are wall panels, caskets and boxes, the little national table khantaxta with hexahedral or octahedral top made of walnut, beech or plane trees, and the fascinating laukh (a stand for the Koran). There is also a room with Japanese and Chinese vases. You will have lunch at workshop. In Kokand also see the Madrassah Jami, a centre with a myriad of workshops where you can see the workers delicately following their craft. Since ancient times Rishton was famous for its ceramics. There are deposits of red clay, natural minerals and abundance of mountainous vegetation that is needed for the painting process. Rishton artisans became well known for their technology of ceramic and pottery production. It is one of the most important ceramic centres in Central Asia. You will visit a studio and watch as skilled craftsmen make and decorate the plates, bowls and pitchers. Finally, visit a studio and observe skilled craftsmen making wool carpets. Drive to Ferghana and on arrival check in to your hotel (B)

Day 2: Fergana Region, Uzbekistan to Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Day 2 - In the morning, if the days of your trip come on Thursday or Sunday, first, you will visit Kumtepa Bazaar, one of the biggest traditional market and must-see place in Fergana Valley. On other days you will start your day by visiting Yodgorlik Silk factory and there are some madrasah and mosques to see in Margilan. If your schedule is not ready, you can choose 2 days including either Thursday or Sunday for your Valley trip in order to see the Kumtepa local market. I used to make my tours for Wednesday-Thursday or Saturday-Sunday before. For going back to Tashkent, there is a train that departs from Margilan at 16:43 and you will be in Tashkent at 21:45
