Trip To The Progenitor Of Tulips And Ancient Taraz
About this tour
Enjoy the blooming of wild red tulip fields in the south of Kazakhstan as well as the nature of the Aksu-Zhabagly National Park.
Red-listed tulip of Kazakhstan was first described in scientific literature by E.L. Regel as a variety of Altai tulip. Later it was bred as an independent species and named in honor of Samuil Alekseevich Greig (president of the Russian Society of Gardeners 1827-1887). These tulips bloom in our area from early April to early June, thus coloring the landscape with bright fiery colors.
They are found in the mountains and plumes of the Tien Shan up to the Kurdai Pass (Zhambyl, South Kazakhstan and Kyzylorda regions).
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: almaty to Taraz
7:00 - departure from Almaty (500 km, 5,5-6 hours) 12:30-13:00 - arrival to check-in to the hotel 13:30-14:30 - lunch 14:30-18:30 - city tour - Karakhan mausoleum - Caravan Shed - observation platform - Kazakh Khandygy Monument 18:30-19:30 - dinner in national style
Day 2: Taraz Kazakhstan, Taraz, Kazakhstan to Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve, Zhabagly, Kazakhstan
7:00 - departure by jeep to the mountains 7:40-8:10 - Aisha Bibi Mausoleum 10:30-13:30 - beginning of the hike to the mountain lake Aynakol, Aksu Jabagly. 13:30-15:30 - petroglyphs 15:30-17:00 - arrival to the guest house Eseikhan 18:00-19:00 - dinner and rest
Day 3: Karatau, Kazakhstan
8:00-9:00 - breakfast at the guest house 9:00 - departure to Tulips 13:00-14:00 lunch 14:00-16:00 - horseback ride 19:00 - dinner and free time
Day 4: Karatau, Kazakhstan to Almaty, Kazakhstan
8:00-9:00 - breakfast 9:00 - departure to Taraz city 12:00-13:00 - arrival and lunch 13:00 - departure to Akirtas ancient settlement 14:00-15:00 - walk around the settlement 15:00 - departure to Almaty 20:30 - arrival in Almaty
