Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Surabaya, Indonesia to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, Indonesia
Start your journey with a morning pick-up from Malang or Surabaya and drive to Tumpak Sewu, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Indonesia. Upon arrival, trek down through a lush canyon to the base of the waterfall for a breathtaking view and photo session. After exploring the area, continue the journey toward the Bromo region and check in at your accommodation near the volcano to rest before the early morning adventure.
Day 2: Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, Indonesia to Mount Bromo, Indonesia
Wake up early for a pre-dawn jeep ride to Mount Penanjakan, where you'll witness the magical sunrise over Mount Bromo and the surrounding volcanic landscape. After sunrise, drive across the Sea of Sand, then hike to the Bromo Crater for a closer look. After breakfast and a short rest, you’ll travel onward to Banyuwangi, the gateway to Ijen Crater, and stay overnight.
Day 3: Mount Bromo, Indonesia to Ijen, Indonesia
Begin your day just after midnight with a drive to Paltuding basecamp, followed by a guided hike to Ijen Crater. Witness the rare and otherworldly blue fire before sunrise, then enjoy the sunrise view over the acidic turquoise lake and watch the local sulfur miners in action. After descending, return to your hotel or be dropped off at Ketapang port or Surabaya/Malang.
