Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Sarazm, Панҷакент, Tajikistan to Sem' Ozer - Tourist base Seven Lakes Travel, Marguzar, Tajikistan
The driver and guide meets you at the Samarkand-Penjikent border at 8:30. Next is the path to the seven lakes (70 km~2h). The Seven Lakes are located in the Sching Valley, one of the popular destinations in the Fann Mountains. Each lake is unique and has its own special color that takes the visitor’s breath away. The altitude from sea level starts from 1600 meters (1 lake - Mizhgon) to 2400 meters (7 lakes - Khazorchashma). We reach the 6th lake, then a short hike to the 7th lake Khazorchashma (2h). We reach the 5th lake where lunch with natural products of national cuisine awaits us. You will be able to learn the life, culture, cuisine and customs of mountain peoples from the inside. Overnight in a guesthouse on Lake 5.
Day 2: Seven Lakes, Tajikistan to Sarazm, Панҷакент, Tajikistan
After breakfast we will have to explore the village, walk along the river (the air in the mountains in the morning is like therapy and is very useful), and get acquainted with local life. At 11:00 we leave for Penjikent, lunch in the city and explore the local bazaar (get acquainted with the oriental flavor) and the central mosque. Then we will go to Ancient Penjikent (5-8 centuries), the ancient city of Sogdiana which was destroyed and set on fire by the Arabs. This city was the last refuge of the Sogdians, inhabitants of the Zeravshan and Fergana valleys. After visiting Ancient Penjikent, we go to Historical Museum of Penjikent, named after the Great Persian-Tajk poet Abuali Rudaki. There you will get acquainted with the artifacts that were found on the territory of Ancient Penjikent, the Sarazm ruins, which are included in the UNESCO heritage list. We'll take you back to the Panjakent-Samarkand border at 17:30 and it's time to say goodbye.
