Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Almaty to Almaty Oblysy
Day 1. Departure to Kolsai Lakes National Park via Bartogai Water Reservoir Visiting Bartogai Water Reservoir. This reservoir is artificial, it is used for irrigation of farms nearby. Every year it collects about 1 billion cubic meters of water. Bartogai was implemented back in 1986, the peak time of Soviet Kazakhstan development. Visiting Kaindy lake. This lake emerged after a massive landslide caused by strong earthquake of Y'1911. Vast array of soil formed natural damb across local river and then water began collecitng up. Little by little this water found its way, and within past century the lake became shallower by almost 40 meters, of them 6 meters within last 30 years. This lake is supposed to vanish eventually in few decades. But it is still deep enough for divers, who find special fun in photographing or filming fir trunks underwater. Due to low temperature tree trunks didn't decomplose and remain in very good condition. Actually, their branches are visible well enough from the bank or from the h. Day 2: Almaty Oblysy
Day 2. Visiting Kolsai lakes 1 and 2 In total there are 3 lakes in a single chain. You will see two of them, at 1800+ meters and at 2200+ meters. Overnight in guesthouse. As additional option, horses can be hired to do this trip.
Day 3: Almaty Oblysy to Almaty
Day 3. Return to Almaty via Turgen waterfalls
