Tashkent – Samarkand – Bukhara – Tashkent
It goes without saying that Uzbekistan is considered one of the seven holly places in the Muslim world. One of the reason is that Muhammad Ibn Ismoil al-Bukhari (the author of «Al-jome' as-sahih» the second holly book after Kuran-i Karim) and Imam al Tirmidhi (he also gathered Hadis) lived and passed away in 9th century in the territory of Uzbekistan. Moreover, Uthman Quran manuscript (7th century) is kept in Quran museum in Khasti Imam Complex in Tashkent city. Beside that 7 holly shrines of Bukhara (Bukhara-i Sharif) are famous in the Islamic world. Naqshbandi was one of the Islamic scholars in Bukhara (the center of Islam civilization), ("dil ba yoru, dast ba kor")- means keep your clean heart for God, by keeping your hand at work. In addition to that the grave of nephew (Kusam ibn Abbas) of prophet Muhammad S.A.V is located in Shakhi Zinda in Samarkand.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Tashkent International Airport, Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Tashkent, Uzbekistan
When you arrive in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, your local guide and driver who provide services in your language meet you with name board at Tashkent International Airport. Check-in time begins from 01:00pm at the hotel. We will start our excursion from the capital, Tashkent city, which includes old and modern parts: KHASTI IMAM ENSEMBLE (16th-20th centuries): Kaffal Shashi tomb, Barakhan and Muyi muborak madrasahs *(madrasah – a school of Islam religion), Namazgah va Juma mosques. This shrine has a special place in the Islamic world, where the Holy Qur'an manuscript * (7th century), written by Caliph ‘Uthman, which is very vital for the Muslim people, is preserved in almost complete and original form; CHARSU BAZAAR: You will discover oriental style huge and beautiful domed bazaar of Tashkent city and enjoy from Uzbek products; TASHKENT UNDERGROUND: It is a magical world in the underground. The reason is that each station is designed based on a special work of art, and the decoration of each station in terms of artistic architecture symbolically reflects the name of the station; (stations: Kosmonavtlar (Astronauts), Alisher Navoiy, Paxtakor and Mustaqillik Maydoni (Independence square)); LUNCH - at the national Uzbek restaurant. BROADWAY: it is located in the centre of Tashkent city and it is favourite place of Tashkent youths. While walking through Broadway you come across local artists, street singers and many more entertainments. (Amir Temur square, 1st Uzbekistan hotel and Palace of Forums, Twin clock towers, the first gymnasium in Tashkent are observed from outside); It is high time to discover Amir Temur and Timurids museum. DINNER - at the national Uzbek restaurant. After dinner, transfer to the hotel for check in and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Samarkand, Uzbekistan
After having breakfast, check out the hotel and at 06:30am transfer to Tashkent north railway station for taking your seats on the modern Talgo-Afrosiyob high-speed train in the direction of Tashkent- Samarkand route. Departure and arrival times: 07:28-09:42am. When you arrive to ancient Samarkand city known as “the pearl of the East”, we will start Samarkand city tour: GUR-E AMIR MAUSOLEUM (14th-15th centuries): One of the masterpieces of Samarkand, built during the reign of Amir Temur and the Temurids, this monument always amazes people around the world with its unique beauty and majesty; REGISTAN SQUARE (15th-17th centuries): Ulugbek, Tillya-kori and Sherdor madrasah. In the ancient Great Silk Road it became an international trade centre and later a centre of science “sandy place” – Registan Square will captivate you with its day and night charm; IMAM AL BUKHARIY COMPLEX (810-870years): It is 25 km far away from the centre of Samarkand city. He authored the hadith collection known as Sahih al-Bukhari, regarded by Sunni Muslims as the most authentic (sahih) hadith collections. Political problems in Bukhara led him to move to Khartank, a village near Samarkand where he died in the year 870. (Pilgrims can perform Dhuhr Namaz in the mosque of Imam Al-Bukhariy complex). LUNCH – at 02:30pm at the national Uzbek restaurant in Samarkand city (we care about your health, so we organize lunch in the Samarkand city; even it is a little bit later.). BIBI KHANYM MOSQUE (14th-15th centuries): It was named after his beloved queen Bibi Khanym by order of Amir Temur. At that time it was known as the largest mosque in Central Asia; SIAB BAZAAR (optional): It is an opportunity to get acquainted with the ancient Siab bazaar in Samarkand and enjoy the oriental sweets and dried fruits that you read about in your fairy tales; SHAH-I-ZINDA ENSEMBLE: It is one of the holiest shrines for Muslims and includes a complex of mausoleums from the 9th to the 19th centuries. Shah-i-zinda means, "living king" and it is the title given to Qusam ibn Abbas, a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad. The mausoleum dedicated to him and the beautiful mausoleums of people connected with Amir Temur give a special beauty to the complex; (Pilgrims can perform Dhuhr Namaz in the mosque of Shah-i-Zinda Ensemble). DINNER - at the national Uzbek restaurant and transfer to the hotel for overnight.
Day 3: Samarkand, Uzbekistan to Bukhara, Uzbekistan
After having breakfast, check out the hotel then transfer to Bukhara city. Along the way, we visit several holy places in the countryside of Bukhara: KHOJA ALAUD DAULA ABDUL KHALIK GIJDUVANI (THE FOUNDER OF “KHODJAGON” SUFI BRANCH): He was born in 1103 in Gijduvan Fortress of Bukhara region. He was a great mystic scholar, a scholar who made an important contribution to the development of the Naqshbandi sect. Moreover, He is well known in the whole world as a Khojai Jahon; CERAMICS MUSEUM IN GIJDUVAN: The museum was founded by Ibodulo Narzullaev - one of the most famous ceramists of Uzbekistan and the founder of the Gijduvan School of ceramics. He participated in more than 50 international exhibitions. His products are exhibited in museums around the world; KHOJA MUKHAMMAD ORIF RIGVARI: He was born in 560 A.D. 1166 in the village of Revgar, Shafirkan district, Bukhara. For many years, Arif Revgari studied mysticism from Abdul Khaliq Gijduvani. They communicated with each other in the village of Roybinon. As the fourth caliph (deputy) of Gijduvani, after the death of the master, he headed the Khojagan dynasty. It is mentioned in the Silsilai Sharif as the "Piri of the Eleventh Ring."; (Pilgrims can perform Dhuhr Namaz in one of the mosques of 7 complexes) LUNCH - at the national Uzbek restaurant. KHOJA MAKHMUD ANJIR FAGNAVI: He was born in the late 12th century in the village of Anjir Fagnav in the Vobkent district of Bukhara. Anfir Fagnavi served Khoja Arif Revgari and he was one of the perfect murids and the greatest caliphs. He learned Islamic knowledge from Revgari. After his death, he headed the Khojagan dynasty. Anjir Fagnaviy is mentioned the twelfth ring in the Silsilai Sharif. He mentored to Khoja Ali Romitani; KHOJA AZIZAN ALI AR ROMITANI: He was born in 1195 in Romitan village, near Bukhara. He was also called Nassaj as he used to weave clothes. Later, he got the spiritual knowledge from Khoja Mahmud Anjir Fagnaviy. Then, he was the chief deputy and he was appointed as a main successor of Shaykh; KHOJA MUHAMMAD BABA AS-SAMMASI: He was born in the village of Sammas in Romitan near Bukhara. He was a Sufi of the Naqshbandi order. He gained Islamic and spiritual knowledge from Shaykh Ali Ramitani. Shaykh 'Ali Ramitani chose him as his successor before his death and ordered all his disciples to follow him and afterward chain transferred from Mohammad Baba As-Samasi to Amir Kulal. Kulal had a number of students who later became prominent figures in history, including Baha-ud-Dīn Naqshband and the conqueror Amir Timur. After rise of the Timurid Dynasty, a close relationship began between the houses of Amir Timur and Amir Kulal. After completing tour, transfer to the hotel for check in and take the rest before dinner. DINNER - at the national Uzbek restaurant and transfer to the hotel for overnight.
Day 4: Bukhara, Uzbekistan
After having breakfast, we will carry on our pilgrimage tour in the countryside of Bukhara, then city tour in Bukhara and some free time: KHOJA SAID AMIR AL KULAL: He was born in 1278 in the village of Suhor, near Bukhara. He was a Sufi Islamic scholar, widely considered one of the most influential in history. He was a member of the mystical Khajagan order; SHAKH MUHAMMAD BAHAU-D DIN AN NAKSHBANDI AL-UVAYSI AL BUKHARI (the founder of “nashqbandia branch”): He was born in 1318 in the village of Kogon, near Bukhara. The first Piri of Bahauddin Naqshband was his teacher Khoja Muhammad Baba as Samosi. Bahauddin Naqshband is also popularly known as "Balogardon" (the one who protects people by praying from evils). He based his teaching on the theories of Yusuf Hamadoni and Abduhaliq Gijduvani. At the heart of his teaching is the motto "Dil-ba yor-u, dast-ba kor" ("Let your heart be in God, your hands in labour"). LUNCH - at the national Uzbek restaurant. POI KALON ENSAMBLE (12th-16th centuries): Poi Kalon mosque and minaret, Miri Arab madrasah. You will get memorable pleasure from the splendour and charm of this ensemble. Go closer to the bottom of the minaret and face the end of it, preferably keep your hat in your hand. Otherwise, due to its height and beauty, it may fall to the ground in a hat like Genghis Khan; ANCIENT AND ORIENTAL DOMED MARKETS (16th-17th centuries): Toqi sarrafon (dome of exchanging currency) – it was the main mall for exchanging currency. Toqi telpakfurushon (trading dome of hats) – a domed building for the manufacture and sale of hats. Tim Abdulla Khan trading dome – the largest trading dome in Bukhara. Toqi zargaron (trading dome of jewelleries) — it is a mall for the sale of jewelleries. Taqi Zargaron is the largest and most complex dome among others in Bukhara; ULUGBEK AND ABDULAZIZ KHAN MADRASAHS (15th-17th centuries): they are architectural monuments whose decorations were made with high art and artisanship. The large portal is adorned with elegant and rare tile curry patterns; LYABI-KHAUZ ENSEMBLE (16th-17th centuries): Lyabi Havuz pool, Nadir Divan-begi khanakah and madrasah, Kukaldash madrasah is the most well liked place of local and foreign tourists as ancient eye-catching buildings influence positively to everyone. Originally, an open market square was exist in the site of this historic architectural complex. Later, large pool was dug in the middle of the square, surrounded by stones, and it has always been popular among the people. After completing tour, transfer to the hotel for check in and take the rest before dinner. DINNER - at the national Uzbek restaurant and transfer to the hotel for staying overnight.
Day 5: Bukhara, Uzbekistan to Tashkent, Uzbekistan
After having breakfast you can take the rest at the hotel until 12:00pm or spend some time in the old city of Bukhara. LUNCH - at the national Uzbek restaurant; At 02:30pm transfer to Bukhara railway station for taking your seats on the modern Talgo-Afrosiyob high-speed train in the direction of Bukhara-Tashkent, route. Departure and arrival times: 03:15-07:44pm. DINNER - at the national Uzbek restaurant and transfer to the hotel for check in and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Tashkent International Airport, Tashkent, Uzbekistan
