4x4 festivals in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is known as a mountainous country which creates great chances for lovers of extreme rides. On this purpose a special 4x4 club named “Off- Road Kings” was founded in Kyrgyzstan in 2008. This club has members of different level of 4x4 driving skills and it is authoritative in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. There are annual 4x4 festivals of vivid races; and the members always participate in expeditions to remote areas of the country and abroad.

In 2018 the 4x4 club celebrated its 10^th anniversary with a grandiose festival with participants not only from Kyrgyzstan but also from Kazakhstan and Russia. Also, the club successfully held the 10th international off-road festival in Issyk Kul lake, collecting guests from former Soviet countires, Germany and South Korea in 2006.

Usually the contests are held in 20 km distance north from Bishkek near Ozernoye village. The track is quite long making about 1.5 kilometers and quite interesting. There are several steep climbs and slopes, some points where you can speed up and hillocks. The cars of the participants are for every taste starting with Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Jeeps, and ending with UAZs and even GAZ-67, of 1946 release.

Both racers and fans love these competitions for its atmosphere which is friendly and exciting. Usually the races are accompanied with small picnics with shish-kebabs and drinks.
