We rented a car from Bakir to self-drive from Dushanbe to Osh. Bakir worked tirelessly throughout the 1.5 that we were travelling to make sure that we were ok. He negotiated with the border authorities to allow us to cross the Kygrz/Tajik border. He arranged for a separate car with Kygrz plates for us to swamp into in Murghob. And he provided a constant stream of advice and recommendations for the practicalities of being on the road. He was an amazing guide and I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone looking to rent a self-drive car in Tajikistan.
Bakir is a wonderful person and guide who helped us organize everything we needed to self-drive the Pamir highway. He did so on extremely short notice, and kept in frequent contact during our trip to ensure our safety and enjoyment. I would whole-heartedly recommend Bakir to anyone travelling in the region. My friend and I arrived in Dushanbe in August 2023 with no car booked. I messaged many tour operators and Bakir was the quickest to respond and easiest to converse with. In a single day, he organized a Toyota Land Cruiser, and all our paperwork for a 10-day drive on the Pamir highway from Dushanbe, Tajikistan to Osh, Kyrgyzstan. In addition to organizing the car, Bakir also kept in frequent contact with us during our trip, providing recommendations and help as we needed. This was a very kind thing to do, and we enjoyed the country more because of it. Bakir speaks very good English, and has a great handle on how the country operates, and on its history.
